“Great Place ....Great Staff.”
Stayed at the fairfield inn for 1 week There was lots of choice for breakfast and you could eat as much as you wanted, Tea and coffee was on offer all day everyday free of charge Staff were so helpful, the rooms were cleaned daily and we could nt fault their service. We were lucky to have a Manhatten view from our room which was a great bonus and a memory I will always look back on. The free shuttle was very handy and was always on time and Manhattan was very easy to commute to on the 7 line subway We ve had the best week ever A week we'll never forget Thanks Fairfield
“Juanita Tolbert”
Staff friendly & very helpful. Shuttle very prompt & super info given. B'fast was great. Will definitely use again. NYC is close commute.
“Great Service/Clean/Industrial Area”
We had a fabulous stay at the Long Island City Fairfield. The staff was great, our room was always clean -- very nice breakfast. The surrounding area was industrial, but that was easily made up for by the other great things. Would definitely stay there again.
“good deal compared to Manhattan”
Had a very comfortable stay at the Marriot Long Island City. The hotel room was exactly what i would expect with all usual requirements. Breakfast was good and was ample giving you a good start to the day. Transport into Manhattan is by shuttle bus to local subway 33th St Rawson. It took about 5 minutes, you can walk, it is about a 1 mile, the area is mainly commercial and safe,be a little more wary in twilight, however i we had on issues when walking. The number 7 purple line takes you into Manhattan and you can stop at Grand Central Station, 5th Avenue or Time Square, be aware of the express line it is a diamond this has limited stops and does not stop at 34th Street, take the number 7 with round green circle. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes, it does get really busy and you may have to stand. Access is really easy once on subway line and this is by far the best way to get around manhattan and we felt safe. We did have shuttle issues from Airport to Hotel because Hotel was not in Manhattan, the company "blue line" would not honour the vouchers, i had to pay and then claimed back, Expedia were excellent in sorting this out. So check before purchase of transfer vouchers if off Manhattan island that shuttle companies will transfer. Would definitely recommend "the rock" day and night and Statten Island ferry, great views of statue of Liberty and its free!! Central park is a must, we did the carriage ride $90 for 50 minutes and well worth it i thought. So NYC here you come!!
“Definately going back.”
Me and my family stayed in new york for 5 days and four nights. The location of the hotel was AMAZING. we were super close to everywhere we wanted/needed to go, the furthest we had to travel was 20 minutes. Theres not much to do right outside of the hotel, except walk around or go to the subway. But it was nice, one of the workers there was especially helpful in showing us which trains to take where, and reccomending places to us such as SOHO and Times Square. We tipped him each time he helped us, because we really needed help lol. Anyways, The service of the hotel was great..the rooms were very clean, some wierd stains on the curtains tho .. Other than that, it was great. Theres an elevator so we didn't need to walk much. The only thing we didn't like about our stay was that we had ordered pizza from one of the recommended places, and it arrived an hour later. Whereas the chinese take out arrived in 20 minutes. Great Stay, i reccomend it to anybody who's just looking for a comforting place to stay <3
“Enjoyed the Stay”
The hotel was perfect for what we needed it to be. Clean, great staff, extremely helpful. The room itself was great (we were four women so alot of suitcases), breakfast every morning. If driving great for going to the city, if you dont have a car they have a shuttle that drops you at the train station where you can catch cabs & they also had a car service we used to go to Laguardia with a reasonable flat rate. Would totally stay again in the future.
“Nice Hotel, only one complaint”
The hotel was nice. I knew the area was industrial so I didn't have a problem with that. The shuttle to the subway was very convenient. The only thing I was unhappy about was that I had called down to ask the desk if they would be able to call me a cab to take me to the city if I needed (I was going to show a did not want to take the subway and risk being late). He said no problem. I googled and found that it would be about $15 in taxi fare. When the ride arrived and I was taken to Times Square, I found it that it was $45 because they had called a car service instead. When I asked later they said taxis did not dispatch by phone. It would have been nice if the desk had warned me about that before I took the car. That is a big difference between fares and I probably would have gotten ready quicker and risked the subway in that case. Or taken the shuttle to the subway and flagged a taxi there, since they are always passing by. I checked the room info folder, too, and it didn't have any warning about not being able to call a taxi either. Other than that, everything else was fine. The room was clean and comfy. The free breakfast was convenient.
“Predatorial practices”
This was our 4th stay at this hotel and everything was going fine until the snow emergency (Blizard on DEC 2010) we found ourselves without a departure flight because airports were closed. We requested an extended stay for my wife and granchildren and the manager said it was going to cost twice as much per night (unable to give actual fee by Expedia rules) this was for Tuesday-Thursday, when they saw our reluctance they proceeded to ignore us and rented our room to another person. We reported this practice to Expedia and bottom line won't stay at a place that shows no concern with return customers, For Shame!
“NOT ONE BAD POINT!!!!!!”
As above
“comfortable and friendly”
A little far from the city but the staff were very helpful and the shuttle bus was great taking us to and from the subway. Rooms comfortable and breakfast was great, a good choice of food. Restaurant food was also good, nothing in the neighbourhood but the shuttle bus would take you to a restaurant and pick you up. Overall for the price a good place to stay.
