Bad timing

Posted 27-Mar-2015
Pros: Nice room.
Cons: I should have been given a discount for the noise and inconvenience.
Location: I feel I picked a good location that's close to Times Square, Central Park, Grand Central Station, 5th Avenue...I like walking so it was great.
We were only on the 3rd floor and there was contruction going on our entire stay. Starting from 7am. This was very disappointing, I think hotels should be require to let guest know that they will be under construction and there will be a lot of noise. I've complained the 2nd night, they sent some one up and the noise stopped. Then the next hour there was another drilling noise, then another the next hour. The room was good for the stay, but bed was too soft.

Posh and Comfy!

Had such a great experience, the staff was so helpful. Upon check in they listened to every question we had and answered happily. Gave us advice on food and close things to do nearby. They even sent us up a little surprise since it was our honeymoon. A+++!!!!

No frills, excellent boutique hotel. A+

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: Friendly staff. Great location. Cool, contemporary style. Clean and well kept.
Cons: nothing.
Location: Amazing location. Everything close by. Excellent starting point for walking around.
The Distrikt is an excellent hotel, located just south east of the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan. For me, this was ideal since I flew in to Newark and took the coach bus to the terminal, and easily walked. You can save a lot of money this way. $16 one way, or $28 or $29 for return ticket. A cab or car service with tolls will cost at least $70 one way. Hotel is clean, and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is just east of times square area, so if you are visiting NYC for the first time, the location is ideal for short walk to Times Square, yet far enough removed that noise at night is minimal and you can get good nights rest. No sleeping in though....there is major construction going on next door (was right outside my window) and they start fairly early. To me, this was non issue. NYC is not for rest, but exploring, and for that, I highly recommend this hotel!

Nice price...but construction

Posted 19-Mar-2015
Pros: Price was right.
Cons: Parking situation
Location: Times Square...you can do almost anything nearby.
For two adults/two kids, the price was right. Next to Times Square which has its pros and cons. Construction was literally next door and scaffolding was on the other side of the hotel. First, this posed a parking issue. Directions tell us to take left on 40th, but it's entrance to Lincoln Tunnel so there was traffic for that. We had to go around. Construction next to hotel blocked at least one traffic lane and with cars parked in third lane, this meant only 1 lane was getting by. There are 2 other hotels right next to this one so imagine trying to stop the car, get your luggage, check in, and try to then park the car with a line of angry drivers honking and not letting you do anything. We were lucky we found a little nook about 3 buildings up to put the car in so that we could just get out to get the luggage. Have to valet...there's no garage there. Port Authority is across the street which means busses in and out as well. Construction noise goes pretty late and starts earlier than 7am. Lots of street noise throughout the night. Room was clean. No ice machines or vending machines. I'd recommend this place because the price is right. Better without the kids but wasn't horrible. Staff was friendly.

Pros: STAFF WERE LOVELY.
LOVELY ROOMS, AND EASY REACH FOR TIMES SQUARE. SUBWAY JUST ON CORNER. AND A SIMPLE BUS RIDE FROM NEWARK AIRPORT TAKES YOU TO PORT AUTHORITY BUS STATION WHICH IS OPPOSITE HOTEL.

Great hotel, great location

Posted 15-Mar-2015
Beautiful, cosy little hotel, just over the road from the Port Authority Bus station, with a subway entrance on the corner of the block and Times Square within a few minutes walk. Staff were excellent and very helpful, rooms were larger than expected and turned down daily to an excellent standard. The lobby has 3 computers, with printing facilities, that are available to guests and very useful for planning out trips and printing tickets. Only downsides were the construction work going on outside the hotel on 40th St, loud drilling etc. begins early in the morning and was very audible from our 5th floor room, and also the price of the hotel bar (we paid over $90 for 4 cocktails). 4/5 would stay again (once construction finishes outside!)

Ideal location for walking bus and ferries ect

Posted 15-Mar-2015
Hotel situated just off time square which was centrally located for everything without the noise. We had a building site next to us but it honestly didnt make any disruptive noise. We were on 29 floor so had good view. Would stay here again but would request 2 rooms next time. We had 3 adults and 1 teenager and there was only a single warddrobe so had to live out of suitcase- would have expected more for a 4* hotel in this regard
