“Not impressed”

Not impressed. Guests have to pay for parking or else you have to park on the side streets. The neighborhood did not look safe. The staff did not even bother to help us carry our luggages to our room.

“FRIENDLY & PROFESSIONAL STAFF”

OUR FLIGHT WAS DELAYED AND WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL AT 4:00 AM.OUR ROOM WAS READY & WAITING FOR US. THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. EVERY TIME WE ENTERED OR LEFT THE LOBBY WE WERE GREETED BY AT LEAST ONE EMPLOYEE. IN ADDITION, WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME I REALIZED THAT I FORGOT SOME CLOTHES IN THE CLOSET. WHEN I CALL THE HOTEL THEY OFFERED TO SHIP MY CLOTHES THROUGH FEDEX! WE DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. WE GIVE IT A 10!

“Great value and VERY clean!”

We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the Marriot by JFK! Extremely well maintained, and clean. The staff are all super friendly and ready to assist. We will definitely stay there again!

“Worst Airport Hotel on Earth!”

We fell for the blurb, "proximity to airport" (it is actually miles away, beyond Rockaway, which is a slum! "Free shuttle bus" which in fact means YOU take the sky train to Federal Station, trundling your luggage, then call them and they might send a shuttle for you. There is no hotel reception area! They have shoved a desk in the entrance hall and 2 surly people are there with a computer checking in their luckless guests. The "hotel restaurant" is in fact the 5 or 6 sleazy tables around the check in table. No one would want to sit or eat in this uninviting and deadly scruffy place. No thank you. We couldn't leave fast enough and if I am EVER stuck near JFK again I will take a taxi into Manhattan. this hotel has 3 stars on Expedia ratings which is very much does not deserve. Marriott should be ASHAMED of themselves and they should not be putting their name on such a dreadful hotel as this one. Shameful! don't even THINK of going there.

“JFK Marriott Courtyard”

The hotel was conveniently located, except we didn't realize the hotel shuttles don't operate into the airport during daytime hours...you have to take a free train from JFK to hotel pick-up points. The hotel was renovating the dining room so restaurant service was in the lobby...they advised us of that immediately and offered individual bottles of wine at check-in to compensate us for the inconvenience. Top-quality hotel service and cleanliness. Shuttle to JFK early the next morning took us directly to the terminal. Will plan to stay there again and recommend it highly.

Area recommendations
We were only stopping in NYC overnight to avoid the red-eye to London...I prefer overnighting in NYC and taking daytime flight to Heathrow...you arrive in the evening and can get a normal night's sleep, much preferable to the red-eye. Of the JFK options, I've stayed at the Hoiday Inn before, but strongly prefer the Courtyard and will use that hotel in the future.

“Clean but noisy”

Hotel room was very clean (despite warnings by friends not to book a room at a hotel near JFK because of the recent epidemic of bed bugs), shuttle service was convenient and staff were friendly (by New York standards!). The one major issue was the noise - also mentioned by another reviewer - that sounded like a grinding machine and which went on all night. I was close to an elevator but that was not the source. The hotel was undergoing renovations in the lobby but again, no work was going on during the night. It wasn't coming from the A/C and fan in the room either.

“Great hotel, one slight hic-up...”

The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly. The hotel itself, even though it is in a pretty crappy area, was very nice. The hotel room was very comfortable, and the free internet was a blessing. There was one big problem though; in the 3 nights I stayed there, they did not clean the room once! When I approached the staff about this, they were extremely polite and apologized profusely, saying that this almost never happens. They promptly gave me a free breakfast voucher for both me and my sister, who happened to be staying with me. The breakfast was very good! Although they did forget to clean the room, I figured that they were genuinely sorry, and that this does not usually happen with them. Either way, they did their best to make up for it. Overall, I would definitely come back and recommend it to others. The location next to JFK is very convenient, along with the free shuttle service to and from the airport.
