“Very nice hotel just one thing...”
Lovely hotel, fantastic location, good staff it's just that we were in a room (which was nice) at the back of the hotel facing all the external pipework. This made a real racket. We tried to change rooms but hotel was fulll
“Wonderful boutique hotel in a fantastic location for sightseeing”
This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. We walked (with a 2yr old - in a stroller and a 4yr old) to Times SQ, Central Park, Rockafeller Centre etc. We found a wonderful deli across the road called Bread and Butter which sold gorgeous healthy food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the staff were more than helpful, especially the door staff. The bar is a bit pricey, but we would definately stay here again.
“Christmas in New York”
This is the second time we've stayed in the Carlton Hotel. It's a nicely designed hotel, and the rooms (we had a deluxe room) are large by NY standards. The location is pretty good... easy to get to a couple of subway stations to get uptown and downtown quite quickly, and close the Empire State Building. and local restaurants within walking distance We found the Concierge and other staff very helpful when booking items and dealing with our queries,
“Perfect. Worked for a nice place to sleep.”
2 adults and 3 kids. We didnt use it for much. We needed a nice clean place to sleep and assumed NYC for the rest. Dunkin Donuts next door and market 1 blocked away completed the package. It was grand enough to feel impressive for the family (kids first trip to the city) The staff were very nice and helpful. We checked our bags in early, parked the van and enjoyed the city. Then had our bags meet us in the room around dinner. The location and expensive parking were the only downsides so saving $40 on a room is not as great of a deal because you will be paying it to cab up to central park. I will use this hotel again. It seems like a nice clean place to crash that is very reasonably priced (one of the deals on Expedia). It is a great for business travel when I go to work just for work.(subway) changes the equation vs. running around with kids and a family.
“A great place to stay”
A great location right next to Madison Park and the Flatiron. Room a little small but extremely comfortable. They have large flat screen tvs in the room, really need to upgrade to HDTV though. I've stayed here several times on business and will be staying here again.
“No Return”
Did not meet expectation of Expedia's 4 star rating, and price was high for the condition of hotel. House keeping needs more coordinating in cleaning. Hall on 9th floor, room 939 was a mess with trash first 2 days. Did not get a sense that carpet got vacuum regularly. Remodeling work is of poor quality. Could not use bathroom sink to wash face or shave, mirror on wall above sink stuck out too much and free standing sink was small. Room very small. Did not get a sense that room is well cleaned after remodeling. Fan in bathroom works well when showering to remove vapor.
“Never Back.”
At the front desk people were very nice, but the hotel is dirty, furniture old and bad quality. I had to take a suit because rooms were small and ward rope very small.
“Good location; good hotel.”
Staff was helpful and service good. Nice to have live music in the bar during the week. Rooms were clean and linens nice. Could use touch-up painting in the hallways.
“Everything came together at the Carlton”
Everything came together at my recent stay at the Carlton. From front desk, housekeeping, room service - even the doorman, everyone seemed genuinely pleased to serve you. Room was compact but well-appointed with fully stocked mini-bar and Molton Brown bathroom accessories. Despite maintenence work going on outside, the room was quiet and the bed comfortable. I was told roomservice could be 35 minutes, it came in under 20, and I enjoed a delicious eggs benedict in the restaurant for breakfast - also with great service. Kudos also to the concierge who was charming and gave me great advice on local ammenities. Close to the Flatiron district, Madison Square Park and good subway connections. A tidy, well-run option for staying in NYC.
“A memorable experience for us”
We chose to stay at The Carlton Hotel on our visit to Manhattan to celebrate our 15th anniversary of meeting on top of the Empire State Building and were very pleased with the entire experience. The location, comfort, cleanliness, service, everything. We would definitely recommend the place and would choose to stay here again.
