“Nice hotel at an affordable price!”
The hotel was very easy to get to from Penn Station, NY. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the Grand St. Metro Station. The hotel staff was very welcoming and friendly. It took me less than 5 minutes to check-in. The room was nicer than I expected; it was very modern and clean, similar to the pricey hotels. Two deltas for me were the Internet service (was not able to activate the wireless or cable connection in the room, although, I did not contact the front desk for help which could have probably fixed the problem) and the location. The location is in the mist of Chinatown which has some really nice restaurants and other attractions but also has a seeder side depending on which way you walk. I found a great restaurant near Grand St,. Station called Mexicue (Mexican BBQ). It was quaint with fast service and the food was delicious and cheap. All in all, I would stay there again, as it was a great experience overall.
“Hotel with 3 star price and 5 star level”
A clean and new reasonable priced hotel closed to China Town. The experience of great food is marvelous. Walking distance to hip East Villiage and few stop to the heart of Mahattan. Friedly personnel and clean room with free breakfast. But if you can walk to all the great food in China Town who will fill up with regular breakfast? Love it. Definitely will go back.
“Good Tourist Hotel”
Exactly as it said. Excellent location, Helpful staff. Clean good size room. Breakfast pretty ordinary.
“Such friendly staff”
We were made very welcome and had a great stay. Staff were so helpful and friendly and the rooms wer clean and comfortable.
“Excellent comfortable and value for money”
The Best Western Bowery Hannbee was very clean and comfortable and staff were helpful, including advice on how to get 1/2 rice tickets to Yankee Stadium!!. Good bathroom. We stored our luggagge for a small fee whilie we went away for the weekend. It is great to get breakfast included. Close to the subway we found it easy to get around. We knew what to expect of the neighbourhood, being the Bowery and the edge of Chinatown. We enjoyed two restaurants recommended by a famous Australian Chef, one almost next door, and the other closeby. Happy with the fruit vvendors and the chinese drugstore over the road. Loved it and would recommend it to any travellers to NYC.
“Good NYC Hub for travellers on a budget”
Hotel had all the basic amenities you'd expect and is near the subway (2 minutes walk to Grand Street station with the B and D lines running up Manhattan) so perfect as a hub for exploring NYC if you aren't keen on shelling out top dollar. It is a block into the Chinatown side of the Little Italy/Chinatown border so lots of fish markets and grocers etc all around - it is not the most pleasant-smelling/cleanest district we visited but didn't feel unsafe walking round which I think is probably the most important thing. The room itself is fine - not huge, but not tiny and with the usual expected amenities such as flat screen and en suite (the latter of which was surprisingly nice for a budget hotel). There is also a free workout room (very small - an exercise bike, a running machine and a cross trainer) and the bonus of free wifi in the room (check that this is part of your deal before booking). The breakfasts are basic, self-service but not unpleasant. All in all, we wanted somewhere we could explore NYC via the subway from whilst not staying in squalour/on someone's sofa/in a guest room of a B&B and this fitted the bill perfectly.
“mix review”
The location of the hotel is good. really close to the south of manhattan and SOHO but the hotel is in the middle of chinatown. area really dirty. The breakfast was good but not enough space for everybody so people have to take their breakfast and eat in their bedrooms. it is a buffet and you can make your own waffles (really good). The plates and cuttleries are in plastic. Rooms are new and clean and the personal was really nice.
“Good but beware”
The hotel appears to be recently renovated. The rooms are spacious for the price, The staff is helpful. The wireless works well. The "free" breakfast is rather lame. Also, be aware that there is considerable road work going on with metal plates placed in the roadway. This causes a very large increase in road noise. So try to get a room facing away from the road (Bowery and Grand) or bring earplugs. That said, we got an essentially free-standing room at the far end of the hall facing Bowery St. There is only one such room per floor. If it weren't for the road noise it would have been near perfect!
“"Not necessarily convenient for customers needing refrigeration for their medication"”
We were assigned a handicapped-accessible room on the 9th floor for our 14 day stay. The rooms do not include refrigerators or microwaves so refrigerating insulin, etc. is not possible ... unless you want to store your medication on the 2nd floor general hotel refrigerator. The room was very clean and comfortable for the majority of our stay, however 3 days before our check-out, the TV cable company had problems providing service and we sat in our room without any TV service for 8-9 hours. The next day a fire alarm went off in the hotel and on calling the front desk the female clerk told us we could ascend to the 10th floor (the exercise room) , until the source of the alarm could be determined. I refused because my husband and I both had walkers and could not ascend or descend the stairs without the use of the elevator. I now wonder why handicapped customers are assigned rooms in the upper floors? The hotel never offered any reciprocation for not being able to provide TV service temporarily or any explanation on the cause of the fire alarm, which eventually went off, but, kept electrical flashers going for a few hours. Our last night there the air-conditioning was not as cool as when we arrived.
“Good location, OK rates”
The hotel is conveniently near Chinatown, Little Italy, Nolita and Lower East Side. Other neighborhoods are a convenient walk away. In six days I only took a subway one time - and no cabs. On the negative side, wireless internet connection was often too weak to connect and usually sporadic.
