“Excellent, Affordable, Clean.”
For those looking for "just the basics" and affordability, look no further than the Belnord. Extremely clean-- for real. My room was very small but--a bed only, plus private bathroom with tub-- but that's all I asked asked for and all that I needed. Extremely affordable when compared to ALL other Manhattan hotels. Location is superb. I WILL book at this hotel again soon. To nitpick: I would request additional towel hooks or towel bar in the bathroom, and a night stand on BOTH sides of the bed rather than just the one. These were minor issues only. A great place to stay at a great price. -EO, Toronto, Ontario
“"Quality is to the extreme of Cleaniless here!!",”
Okay so the rooms are compact and minimal, but who goes to NYC to spend time in their Hotel. This Hotel is extremely clean and run with efficiency, the staff are polite, quite and respectfull. Our beds were clean everyday, fresh towels everyday, room cleaned everyday, hot water all the time, the bathroom suite, was showroom perfect, what more could you need?. Perfect location, for transportation, and recommend "Hot and Crusty" across the street, for Egg and Bacon Bagel and open 24/7, for all your hot drinks. So Go and explore, NYC is not all about Time Square, and Starbucks!.
“Would recommend !!”
Arrived at Belnord around 7pm, check in was straight forward and lift up to room. Corridors were narrow and room was small - but you're in New York so not likely to spend much time in hotel room! Was comfortable and cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. Also clean plastic cups provided daily. About 2 miles from time square, but quite a nice walk past Lincoln centre, Columbus Circle and Central Park. Although preferred to use taxi's when returning to hotel at night. Local restaurants to hotel nice, and a couple of shops to get any food or drink from for your hotel room. Hotel organised transport back to airport as well when requested, and although they had no late checkout - they did have a luggage storage room. We would rate this hotel 3/5 and the list marks are only through further location and size of room.
“Great Value in the Upper West Side”
No Frills. Small rooms. Limited TV. Free Internet. Great location, extra clean rooms, safe and nice, friendly staff. But, hot water was not always consistent, particularly in the afternoon and at night.
“great base camp”
Room was a tadge on the small side (not as small as some of the Japanese hotel rooms!) Very clean and quite Great location in a quite neighbourhood. Subway only one block away. If you need a room as a "base camp" this is it! If you want to spend hours in a room looking out the window (why go to New york?) then this place is probably not your style!
“Good Quality for price”
Belnord hotel is in a nice part of Manhattan. Location wise is perfect and cheap. The catch is that it is a simple and tiny room, not good for people that loves to spend time on the hotel. Services are few, no food or room service. But it is great if you just one to get out of your room and sightsee the city. There are plenty of places to eat in the area, the location is good. Room was cleaned daily and it was not noisy at all.
“Hotel Next to 86St Subway”
I picked this hotel because it was right next to a subway station on the upper west side, and I was very pleased as it has been recently renovated and was very clean and nice. I have no complaints and would definately stay here again.
“A great hotel for a New York CIty visit!”
A great hotel for the price. It is very basic accomodations (room was pretty small) at a very reasonable price for New York City. Room and overall hotel was very clean. Get the MTA Metrocard and everything in NYC is accessible from this location! Subway is one block south. Bus stop is in front of hotel and transfer to LaGuardia bus is 20 blocks north. What a deal! I definitely would stay here again.
“Good budget hotel in Upper West Side”
For the money it's an ideal hotel for the area. The rooms are quite small but spotless, and the en-suite bathroom is well equipped. The fact that we had our own bathroom was a biggie as other hotels we looked at in the same price range either had shared bathrooms, or no wardrobes or something else you didn't want. There is no mini bar in the room (if that's a problem) but there is a few bodegas or liquor stores near by and an ice machine just off the lobby. The real bonus is the area, there's lot's of nice restaurants (not too expensive), a few good bars and 2 minute walk for the subway. Restaurant wise we enjoyed Barney Greengrass & City Diner for breakfast, and for later Fred's, The Hi-Life, Island Burgers (amazing) & Deans pizza's. Bar Wise Dead Poet's is cool as is Amsterdam Ale House & McAleers. The good thing was you got the feeling that most people in the bar's/restaurant's were locals (I may be totally wrong) not just tourists, so you could pretend, probably unconvincingly, you were a native New Yorker! The Hotel is really well positioned for Central Park, Natural History Museum etc, however if you are looking at the upper west side, you probably knew that. All in all a good base for a first time visit to NYC.
“Budget Hotel on Upper West Side”
Depending on your intent, the hotel location may not be the best for you. All the major Museums are on the other side of the Central Park but within walking distance. The best side is that it is neart subway stations to let you go quickly downtown.
