“Excellent hotel close to Subway”
The only let down with this hotel is that we didnt have much interest in the area that it is located. We found we were wanting to hang out in Soho or Chelsea. But the hotel itself was great, the rooms really spacious for NY and clean - all newly renovated.
“enjoyable”
this is mt second visit to this hotel good location, clean and staff are helpful and friendly.
“3rd time, great renovations”
3rd time at this hotel and the renovations have really uped the standard. Rooms are a lot quieter than before and a lot warmer, (double glazing fitted). All NY hotels are noisey and this hotel is no exception but the renovations have worked well. Still a 'great location' hotel. The work at the hotel is still in progress but is limited to 8am - 6pm weekdays.
“Affinia 12/09/11”
Good hotel. It's not spectacular but it works. Here's the deal - if you want a grand lobby, large room and a nice bar then this is not your hotel. It's clean and the rooms were recently renovated but not big. However, IT'S NYC! Unless you want to pay over $800 / night or more, your room is going to be small. Don't stay in this hotel if you want a big room and hang out to watch tv and order room service. Of course, if that's your idea of fun, you can stay in Newark. It's a practical hotel, not a luxurious hotel. The Affinia is right across from Penn Station which means you can pay $12.50 to take a 30 min train from EWR to NYC and have your hotel right there when you walk out of the station. It's also easy walking distance to Times Square, Rockafella Center, MSG, at others tourist traps if that's your deal. If you like live jazz, you can easily take the metro to Greenwich Village or walk 10 blocks to the Kitano Hotel. All other sites - you are right across from Penn Station. Take your pick and hit the metro. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
“Wonderful hotel that in a convenient location”
We stayed at the Affinia Manhattan for 3 nights at the beginning of December 2011. I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and on my trip this time it was just as nice as I remembered. The staff were all very polite and helpful. The rooms have been refurbished since I was last there and the decor is lovely and calming after a busy day in the city. We had a two bed suite which was a great size for two girls who were there to shop, the kitchen was also handy for keeping drinks chilled. I like this hotel for it's location, you are pretty much in the middle of the city so it's nice and easy to grab a taxi to upper or lower Manhattan and then walk back to the hotel. Next time I go to New York this will be the first hotel I look at booking.
“Fantastic location”
Fantastic location for short break in new York
“Old style hotel in convenient NYC location”
Old style hotel which has undergone makeover. Good size, comfortable and stylishly-furnished bedroom, with well-appointed but smallest shower room I've ever seen! Good wireless internet connection and desk in bedroom. Noisy location, as with most NYC hotels, so ask for room on high floor. Excellent restaurant attached on ground floor for breakfast and dinner.
“great hotel good location”
we as a family of five adults really enjoyed our stay. the hotel is very clean, modern and a great central location. the staff are very friendly and helpful. very good standard at a very reasonable price.
“Will definately return.”
Arriving at the Affinia we immediately realised how well we were located straight across the street from Penn Station. All staff were polite & friendly & our requests were seen to immediately. The room was very comfortable, clean & modern, probably slightly smaller than other hotels we've used but wouldn't put us off. Ideally placed, close to Macy's & subways accross the street so able to whizz up & down Manhattan with ease. Would definately stay here again if the price is right.
“EXCELLENT LOCATION”
The location was excellent. Staff are helpful and friendly. The only negative is the Bathroom. It is so is ridiculously SMALL!
