Excellent location

Posted 16-Mar-2015
Pros: The location and the fact that although it was central, it was quiet
Location: The location was 5 minuets walk from the station and all the sights of Edinbugh were very near by, plus all the restaurants and shops you could want
This hotel was near everything but there was very little noise. The room was spotless and had everything you could need, the bed was particularly good as it was extremely wide. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was lovely, also the bar area was very nice. The hotel was clean everywhere , we had a lovely 3 night stay and will definitely go back.

Very central to everything

Very comfortable and pleasant hotel. Only very minor complaints- if you are on the 6th floor be prepared to use the stairs or wait and due to central location there can be lots of outside noise all night.

Excellent position and good value for money

Posted 03-Mar-2015
Pros: The position and value.
Cons: The bed linen is a bit tired (too soft mattress and lumpy duvet!), but it wouldn't be deal breaker for us.
Location: Loads! It's a very central location - it is very central to all the shops and tourist attractions..
The hotel was clean, convenient for Old Town, New Town and the train station. We had a quiet room. The bathroom seemed recently renovated and the shower was excellent. The view from the breakfast room was lovely to look at first thing in the morning. The staff were all very pleasant and polite. The decor is a bit on the old fashioned side, but the rates reflect this and on the whole it doesn't make the stay any less comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Great hotel to get around town centre on foot.

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Stayed for one night. Small room but very comfortable and cosy. Lovely tea, coffee and shortbread. All toiletries catered for. Staff at breakfast need to be more attentive to staff. Breakfast music not suitable. Would stay again though.

Good central hotel for exploring Edinburgh

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Central position, and easy to find. Good for exploring Edinburgh on foot, and near all the bus stops if we wanted to go further afield.
Cons: I know it would cost an awful lot to have such a large and old building double glazed, but it would help to reduce the noise of traffic and buskers!
Location: We visited the Royal Yacht Britannia. The bus (22) stopped near the hotel, but on a pleasant day (this wasn't) it is only a mile walk.
Easy to find, just a short walk from the railway station. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. Due to the inclement weather we dined in the hotel each night, in the bar. The bar menu had a good choice of food, and the prices were very competitive with other restaurants in the area. Although we didn't try the hotel restaurant, the menu also looked very good and had excellent offers...worth a try, but I would suggest booking a table as it was busy. Our room was a good size, on the corner, so not quite overlooking Princes Street, and although we could hear traffic noises, it wasn't intrusive and didn't bother us. The rooms are not double glazed, and we could feel the cold off the window, but the heater in the room more than compensated us for that. The only negative thing was that the room was in need of a good dusting when we arrived. Even the information booklet, left in the room, had a coating of dust, but the bathroom was spotless and the beds were clean and comfy. Over all, very good value for a city centre hotel.

Good location on Princes Street.,

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Cons: The heating in room 306.
We enjoyed our stay, good location, breakfast good, staff helpful. The only negative comment is about our room, number 306.The room was cold and although we had the heating on maximum and the staff checked it,it was still cold.

RUGBY WEEKEND

Posted 21-Feb-2015
Pros: POSITION
Cons: BREAKAST AVERAGE AND EXPENSIVE
CENTRALLY LOCATED , IDEAL FOR THE BRIEF STAY , ROOMS WERE NICE AND WARM ON A FAIRLY CHILLY WEEKEND . DOOR ACCESS COULD BE IMPROOVED AS THEY ARE NARROW AND HEAVY WHICH IS A BIT OF AN ISSUE TRYING TO NEGOTIATE WITH HEAVY BAGS
