problems from the start

Posted 14-Sep-2014
Pros: location
Cons: customer service
went to check in last saturday, sept 6th. after searching, the clerk told us our reservation was for friday and saturday. i showed him my confirmation from expedia and after going away for a while, he gave us our pre-paid room. when we got to the room, we had to force the door open with our shoulder because it was stuck so bad. the room we paid for was a deluxe room but it was anything but that. small, with a shower that had a less than nice flow of water. the window opened onto the back of an other building and what i would call a dump of a yard. we survived and went about having fun. on sunday afternoon, we went back to the room only to discover that our keys did not work. down to the front desk we went, only to be told that we had reservations for friday and saturday and should have been checked out by then. you would think that they would have corrected that on saturday but no, additionally the clerk made the comment after we showed her the confirmation, that expedia had to have changed the dates not them. anyway after going to her manager again, they gave us back our keys. while we were talking to her we told her of the bad room we had, her comment was "didn't we use room #### as it was really a nice room. we said no, never saw it, only the room we were in saturday night. no effort was made to give us a better room for sunday night. had a great time in nola, not because of anything this hotel did though.

heart of the Quarter, with a side entrance!

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Pros: Every staff member is helpful, friendly and courteous. Beds are incredibly comfortable and amenities as expected.
Cons: The carpeting on our floor was a bit frayed, the elevator was showing some wear and tear...
Location: everything is close...from the bawdy to the sophisticated...just depends on which way your turn.
Bourbon Street has many connotations, and this hotel is solidly situated in the midst of all of them. A vintage matron New Orleans, this respite is easily identified for first time tourists, lost in the insanity of Bourbon Street. Once inside, however, things slow to a manageable and sophisticated pace. One of the best and most elegant venues for jazz music is within its walls; the coffee at PJ's will wake up any Hurricane or or Sazarac-laden brain, and the staff is absolutely first rate. The hotel may be showing a bit of age and wear, but probably because it is never allowed to take a break from full occupancy.

Pros: Everything
Staff was tremendous, restaurants in hotel are excellent and the hotel is in the middle or near everything in the Quarter or Canal Street. Can not explain what a pleasant experience this was.

Location: Bourbon street a little bit loud. Make sure you take a room at the back
We enjoyed our stay at the Sonesta. Staff was very available and the room was very clean. The patios and pool are beautiful spaces to relax in.

An Absolutely GREAT experience

Very very nice hotel right in the heart of the upper French Quarter, within walking distance of anything you could want to do in that part of Nee Orleans. Cafe Du Monde, fine dining, tourist spots, and the SuperDome all within a very decent walking range. We got an AMAZING deal on the hotel and didn't really know what to expect as we had never stayed at the Sonesta before. We were very pleasantly surprised, the hotel was beautiful, every single staff we interacted with were polite, helpful, consummate professionals starting as soon as we got there with the valet guys in the parking garage, to the front desk attendants, to the room service staff and the concierge always ready to help in any way they could. The building itself is an older but very well-maintained building very much in the style of the best buildings in that area. There is a nice central courtyard area with fountain and seating for relaxing and conversation and they have a nice outdoor pool on the level above the courtyard as well. Inside the hotel there is a great little coffee shop/bistro type of place where you can get a great breakfast or quick lunch, they also have a very nice dinner restaurant and an oyster bar and a jazz club but we did not get a chance to try those out on this go around. There's so much to do! All in all we would highly recommend this hotel and would most definitely stay here again on our next trip.

Great fun hotel right in the heart of the Quarter!

Posted 28-Aug-2014
Pros: The pool area and location of the hotel! And the staff was great - we felt very safe.
Cons: Lighting in the room.
Location: Location was fabulous - right in the heart of the Quarter and right on Bourbon.
I wanted a hotel with an outdoor pool, and this was the one! Great bar outside, beautiful pool area. Rooms were great, a bit dark, and if you're facing Bourbon, a bit noisy (as you'd expect) but super fun people watching! Staff was FABULOUS! Check in was super slow and appeared to be no matter when people showed up. But they couldn't have been any nicer.
