“Modern and spacious”
Looks like everything is new. Clean and the bed is very comfortable. Location is quite convenient to visit Yale. Only thing is that some of the staff members are not polite. And the breakfast buffet is overpriced for what they offer (not tasty at all).
“excellent hotel”
I loved staying here. Appreciated the upscale finishes (granite countertops, high-end faucets, large flatscreen tvs, and so on), balcony, extremely helpful desk clerks, and very nice decor. The only thing I didn't care for was that there was no option for room service with "real" food and I thought the breakfast buffet was quite pricey for what one got. For that price, I expect eggs to order, not rubbery scrambled eggs. But when I return to New Haven, I'll certainly come stay here again--it was a very nice experience.
“Great Option”
I was pleasantly surprised. The renovated hotel was comfortable and well situated. The style was minimalist but had all the comforts you would need. Great IT setup in the room especially. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice. My only complaint is the toilet is a commercial style (hardly a big deal) and I didn't notice the bathmat on the rail in the shower stall until after I turned it on. If I had my glasses on, this probably wouldn't have been a problem. The staff was exceptionally nice and I was running late in the morning and the breakfast room staff went to the trouble to let me know there is no restaurant at Tweed, then grab me a bag for my banana and yogurt and give me an idea of timing to the airport. Very nice! I would definitely return.
“Very poor care for the disabled”
I booked a room with accessibility and sent an email to general manager to confirm whether I could borrow a wheelchair because I am a lower limbs amputee. But there was no response from the hotel. I guessed such a good hotel definitely has wheelchais for guests in need, but when I arrived the hotel I was extremely embarrassed because all an employee could talk to me was that "You can cancel the reservation" at 8pm of a rainy day. The employee was very kind and tried to provide me with parking convenience but that's all. You cannot imagine how an amputee who lost both legs stays in a hotel without a wheelchair. It was terrible.
“Nice hotel”
Really nice place. Recently updated, clean, comfortable, amenities in the room (safe, fridge, big flat screen, lots of TV choices, free internet). Only downside is parking - charges per night at the garage across the street. Seemed safe and quiet but I was there Thanksgiving night, so your results may vary.
“Early check-in”
Great hotel, early check-in was permitted, free access to business centre and printing. Rooms had large desk and internet.
“Great updated, modern hotel”
Looks great after the renovations, good Front Desk Service, clean and comfortable rooms, easy access to parking garage across street (additional fee however), and very close to the Yale campus for safe excursions.
“Impressed”
The hotel felt new. It was very clean, with nice decor. We especially enjoyed all the photos of Yale! There was also a DVD player in the room, which was a nice touch.
“Great Location & Price”
THE GOOD: - Self-service luggage carts - Hotel staff is friendly and helpful - Rooms are decent size and clean - Convenient breakfast restaurant - Awesome location close to Yale and great eateries - Rooms include iron, hair dryer, safe, and mini fridge - Convenience market & laundry room in hotel - Free Wi-Fi THE BAD: - No doorman (after hours hotel access requires room key at front door) - Restaurant staff was very slow despite a nearly empty dining room - No mini bar (you do get a mini fridge instead) - AC unit is very loud - Wi-Fi is very weak on 7th floor OVERALL: I would stay here again, just not on the 7th floor. The downtown area is very walkable and there are boutiques and eateries all around. The place where the hamburger was invented (according to the Library of Congress) is a block away. Cab rates are reasonable as well although a couple of times they were very slow to get to the hotel. Not the hotel's fault though. If you're visiting Yale or seeing sights in New Haven, this is where you should stay.
