“I say "rustic" wife says just bad...”
Where to begin: "Check in at 2", arrive at 4 - room not ready. Walk in room with staff, no remote, no safe - state both will be brought. Notice door to bathroom won't close, stuck, I pick up to move and break it. Only 2 small towels (lovely unmatched set) - so now 4 things needed. Wife takes shower and door comes off hinge - handy man (me) to the rescue. Remote shows up 4 hrs later, door next day, no towels, no safe. Bed linens worn out, and smell musty. AC starts leaking last night there at 2 am, just move bed forward as we are leaving in 5 hrs anyway, put towels on floor. Earthquake thrown in for good measure (no kidding), wakes us up again...drip, drip, drip from AC continues.... Hot water is from Solar - very hot at night, cooler in morning, cloudy day = less hot water. Wife regretted not taking me up on moving to the Four Seasons down the road after seeing the room... Hotel just needs to spend some money on maintenance. FYI: Do go to Coconut Grove and the Indian restaurant just across the street from it - both are excellent!
“off-season paradise”
We enjoyed our 2 days on Nevis. The rest of our trip was at the Marriott on St, Kitts, so this was a nice change. We flew into St. Kitts, and let Oulie Beach Resort arrange a water taxi for us. This turned out to be a great idea, and did get us quickly to our resort. Our cottage was set right on the beach as promised. However, there was not steel drum band since it was not high season. Be aware that Charlestown does close up on Sundays, grocery stores were open, but not much else. Oualie Beach Resort was lovely, with screened in porches and hammocks hung in the trees for each cottage. We enjoyed the food at the resort restaurant. It was a peaceful, relaxing couple of days.
“Peaceful”
Rooms were great, beaches were perfect.
“Good location but expensive”
On a quiet beach until lunchtime when day trippers arrive for lunch. Hotel is OK but for the money a little more comfort would be nice - noisy aircon for example. Food was only average - they run out of fruit juice and only one choice of cereal at breakfast. Only 1 wine list containing 20 wines of which many were not available. I had 1 very poor dinner, other dinners were OK.
“loved it!!”
The cottage was 20 feet from the ocean. Beautiful sunsets. We were greeted with a rum punch and led to our delightful room. Although not the most luxurious room, it was nicely decorated, had A/C, and enclosed veranda with a view of the ocean. The lulling sounds of the surf were delightful and mesmerizing. Fodd at the resort restaurant was very good, with a nice variety of choices. Hotel staff was very accommodating, although the wait staff at the restaurant seemed a bit disinterested, even by "island" time. The location is between the airpoart and Charlestown. When we come back in a few years, we'll definitely stay there again. This is a fabulous place to relax, play in the water, and really enjoy your down time.
“Great Value”
Big room, right on the beach. The decor and the plumbing could use an upgrade, but everything worked and the bed was very comfortable. Terrific location, friendly staff. No other hotel on Nevis except the (closed right now) 4 Seasons has a beachfront location even remotely like this.
