“Honeymoon Bliss”
My husband and I stayed Montpelier the beginning of November 2006 for a 9 day honeymoon. The service and attention to detail at Montpelier is extraordinary. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold towels, a hotel tour and two glasses of rum punch. We were too tired for dinner, which is an event, and were pleased to have a wonderful meal in our room. As for the event of dinner, each night there is a three course meal, with the menu posted mid-day for you to savour over the choices. Each meal is unique and an exciting culinary experience. Prior to the meal you have the option to sit in the "great room" for cocktails and meet with other guests. We spent our days enjoying the beach, the pool and the occasional hike. It was pure relaxation. We were usually the only guests at the beach, which is located about 20 minutes from the actual property. They have a bartender at the beach, which always seemed silly as there were usually only two of us. The picnic lunch is a must - it was delicious! The pool is fresh water and as at the beach, we were usually the only guests enjoying the pool. Oh, and of course, the tea and scones every afternoon. My husband and I would play scrabble, enjoy the owners beautiful dogs and eat every last crumb of our scones. We stayed in a basic room, which was simply decorated and comfortable. There were mosquitos and some ants, but overall it was hard to fault the hotel for the bugs when you're right near a rainforest.
