We were welcomed by a very nice young lady at the front desk who offered us some refreshments. She was professional and helped us to feel "at home". A fruit basket awaited us in our room, it was replenished for the second night. We also received a delicious cake during our second day.
The location of this hotel is terrific. Close enough for a short walk to the city's main attraction, far enough to get away from the tourists. I would stay at this hotel again.

A minor problem with driving a car is that the hotels that have free parking are generally very far away from the city center. Tryp is the exception. Because of 24 hour trams, the hotel is always within easy reach of the city center. The tram is roughly a 8-10 minute walk from the hotel. Once in the tram, it is only 4 stops to the center. Yes, it is even bike-able. Tryp offers to rent bikes for 9 euro a day. Further, the hotel is located very close the the Neustadt, which has all the good, non-touristy bars and restaurants.
As far as the hotel itself, it has character. There is a restaurant in the basement. It is fine, expect the waitress keeps having to run upstairs to get the food. They could use a little music or something. It is very quiet.
The room is fine and spacious. Other than not having wash clothes, I have no complaints.
I requested a quiet room and was allocated a lovely ground floor room overlooking a courtyard garden and water feature. I slept extremely well! There is a small, indoor pool and spa centre, which was most welcome at the end of the day! Everything I needed was there in my room. Breakfast was excellent with lots of healthy options and was a reasonably priced extra. Breakfast was available till 11am. The pool was open till 10pm. When I stayed, there were significant road works outside but this did not effect my stay. The hotel was located a little further from the city centre than I had imagined but a 20 - 25 minute walk brought you to the main bridge over the River Elbe and all the tourist attractions. It room rate was on special offer and I considered it very good value. I would stay there again, especially if I had the same room.
Pillows could be better as they are not very comfortable, also the air condition was leaking water, but was fixed the next morning. Great service and very helpful staff. The hotel was in a great location and not far from city centre!!!
