“it's a great hotel”
it is a very good hotel to stay in, when you travel to Jamaica. I had a great time, and enjoyed the room, the service and everything else. can't wait to get back there... I recomend the Palms Resort!!!
“Perfect and Aesthetically Pleasing Boutique Hotel!!!”
My husband and I travelled to Negril to photograph a wedding and so we were looking for a hotel that was centrally located, but that provided a relaxing atmosphere for our day off following the wedding. Given the short amount of time we had to spend in Negril, we were looking for a small, intimate boutique hotel right on the beach. The Palms Hotel was perfect!!! In walking up and down 7 mile beach, the Palms was by far the nicest looking hotel with its sleek, modern architecture, and poppy colors. The rooms were simple in white, with wooden accents. When the hotel staff placed is in the back of the hotel in one of the recently renovated rooms, we asked to be moved closer to the beach and they accomodated us immediately with pleasure. The hotel security officer, Ramsey, went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of every day of our stay. The bartender, Omar, and the restaurant server, Melissa, were friendly and attentive. The grounds were clean. And the food was very good. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and certainly hope to return.
“Great staff”
It was the slow season during my visit but the staff was always very helpful and kind and assisted me whenever I needed it. The staff made the place so nice.
“BEST HOTEL IN NEGRIL”
This is my second time to the palms resort and it was even better than the first time. This time my girl and I brought her best friend my best friend and my dad they loved it. The treatment and service was incredible they weight on us hand and foot nothing was out of reach. The hotel may need a little upgrade but there working on it. The upgrade rooms were beautiful. The food was incredible AGAIN Ransey and winston and the rest of staff were on top of there game. If i was you i would try it out for weekend and see what the beach of BLISS can do for your stress. TRAVEL WARNING DO NOT FLY AIR JAMAICA. JET BLUE OR AMERICAN AIRLINES
“The Palms Resort - Needs Maintenance”
This hotel is in an excellent location right on the 7 Mile Beach. The reception staff and restaurant staff are friendly and informal. The physical facility needs an upgrade, from a maintenance perspective. The first garden level room we were shown did not have a working air-conditioner which, given daytime temperatures in Negril, was not an option. We were changed without much fuss to an upstairs room with higher ceilings. This room had two issues - there were 5 visible holes in the ceiling - and the shower water did not get hot - ever. Windows were louvered wood and unscreened, but mosquitoes were not a problem during the trip. Wifi was so intermittent that it was simply annoying. Housekeeping seemed to believe wartime rationing was in effect and were therefore extremely economical with soap and shampoo allocations. The restaurant setting was very nice and the food was above average for the area in terms of taste. There was a good live Jazz sesssion on Sunday night. Norma's in Sea Splash is just a short distance away and has excellent Jamaican Breakfasts. The beach is subject to swarms of local hustlers, either selling trinklets or many simply begging and this at times make for unpleasant beach walks. They can demonstrate verbal aggression, if ignored. Negril town itself does not have very much to recommend it and is not particularly active. Having a car to drive to Montego Bay (1 Hour away) is a useful option to increase both shopping, dining and social options.
“Beach, Sun, Smiles and Jazz”
Great beach access and decent on site restaurant. Deluxe room was basic with occasional minor water pressure and temperature issues throughout the week but comfortable bed and good housekeeping service. Had to be moved to new rooms due to excessive road, hotel renovation (jack hammer) and adjacent "restaurant" noise. We are early risers, but the constant and loud noise and pot banging, beginning at 6am was not tolerable. Jack hammer started up @ 9 and continued throughout the day. Staff were genuinely caring and helpful from front desk (Parsiah and Ann Marie I think) all the way through to restaurant (Delores and others) and of course the omnipresent Ramsey. Sunday Jazz night was excellent. Beach chairs were comfortable and easy to secure. The "day" visitors from Mo Bay crowded things up a bit but Ramsey did his best to insulate hotel guests from the onslaught. We've travelled to sun/beach destinations @ moderate to luxury ratings a couple/ few times a year for the past decade or so with this being our second Negril and third Jamaican trip. Couples just up the beach being other Negril visit. We cannot rate the beach and proximity of hotels to seven mile beach high enough - this is top notch relaxation literally less that a hundred feet from your room. Beach and calm waters unbeatable. Glitches yes - return to Palms, absolutely, but only with money back guarantee if specific room(s) not provided. Check out Ciao restaurant - they'll provide transportation; and Rick's cafe
“Not well maintained”
AC was dripping water all over the bed. The hotel needs some +new towels. The towels are raggedy and stained. The toilet makes noise and no screens on the windows and doors. I guess you get what you paid for. Other than that, the ocean view was great and the food is not too bad. I would try a different hotel next time.
“Not Impressed”
We stayed at The Palms Resort. Here are our thoughts... Pros: Service was excellent. Ramsey, head of Security, is incredible at making you feel special Generally nice staff Food was inexpensive and decent Clean accommodations Cons: Book the deluxe room. The standard room is very small and doesn't offer much. Our A/C was busted in our standard room. The facility is old. No central air conditioning. This is a boutique resort so it's not very large but that could be a pro to some. Very low water pressure and didn't get very hot in the shower. Overall, we very much enjoyed Jamaica but not necessarily because of the hotel.
“Overall ok”
We stayed in Palms Resort for 5 nights in January, 2011. We were given a garden view room, well equipped with free Wi-Fi which was highly appreciated as we were coming from Port Antonio with limited internet access. Unfortunately we were not very lucky in terms of neighborhoods. Our room was placed in the right side, very close to the Norman Manley Blvd. and just beside a restaurant kitchen. Therefore the atmosphere was very very noisy until late in the night. An additional inconvenient was the fact that after the beach time, 2 days in a raw, we did not have hot water in the shower. We claimed it at reception desk and it was solved but after all, it was unconformable not having at least warm water when you come from the beach. Other than that, the staff was friedly, polite and careful. The hotel very well placed closed to the beach, the food ok.
“vacation in paradise”
friendly sweet staff, helpful ... good location plenty of stuff to do... securtity very nice, food good.
