“The Best Place to Stay in Negril”

I've stayed at Rondel Village 4 times and I wouldn't stay anywhere else (I previously stayed at two different hotels in Negril). The staff is so friendly and accomidating and the rooms couldn't be cleaner. In all my travels, I've never stayed in a cleaner place. The rates are mid-range for Negril but it's well worth the extra few dollars you'll spend over the cheapest places in Negril. Go for the Garden rooms across the road from the beach. They're bigger, more private and only a few extra meters from the water. Plus they're on the same side of the road as Sweet Spot Restaurant. They have THE BEST STAFF and their Ackee and Saltfish and Curry Fish are so good, it's the only place I eat and I do it twice a day. Stay at Rondel and you will be well taken care of, you'll feel safe and be able to take advantage of your vacation time to truly RELAX and RESTORE.

Getting there
Book your round trip bus/van to your hotel through expedia (JUTA or Jamaica Tours are fine). It's a bit cheaper and you don't have to worry when you get there. Also, make sure you call a day or two before you leave to confirm the time you'll be getting picked up. Sometimes the hotel has their 'people' come in before the van/bus and say you'll be getting an individual car ride to the airport and then you'll be charged more by the driver.

“Acceptable for a noninclusive price with a great attitude”

Everyone went over and beyond to provide us with comfort and security. Negril is by nature very humid and lots of mosquitos, however and we had lots of rainy afternoons/showers. The snorkeling trip was a great deal next to the hotel and was able to be negotiated. The food at Island Twist was average, however there's others restaurants within walking distance that are very local and homey. overall, it was a fantastic time with a gorgeous, clean, safe beach.

“Good value and clean room”

My wife and I decided to stay across the street to save money, and we are glad we did. The rooms were individual cottages and very private. It was also very quiet accept for the first night (Saturday) as we were next door to a private dance bar with loud reggae until 1AM or so. Other than that, the room was great, and a good price. I look forward to returning. My only wish was a coffee pot which I could have had for an additional $3 per day.

“Glad we chose this one”

I stayed at Rondel Village for a week with my two teenage children. It was our first time in Jamaica and we loved it! We stayed in a superior room on the second floor on the beach side of the road. The housekeeper did a great job each day thoroughly cleaning and making up our room that was not opulent but still super clean and very comfortable. The groundskeepers do an impeccable job too. We didn't have a view of the ocean but we weren't in our room very much anyway. It was still beautiful looking out at the lush surroundings. Our bathroom window had a beautiful view of the ocean :) The pool is small but in the beautiful garden setting. We only used it once for a short time since most of our time was spent on the beach and in the ocean. There is a security guard at the road to help you cross the road or get a cab and also a guard at the beach. They were always extremely helpful if a local person trying to sell you something hung around too long, or just to give you advice on where to go or what to do for meals or activities. We loved the location of the hotel. There are other hotels that seem much more geared toward a louder spring break crowd. You can still hear music and sometimes a loud person in the middle of the night getting back to the hotel, but the open airy feel of the the place was worth it for me. We ate at the restaurant on site a number of times. The food was good, the service was great and it was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

Area recommendations
The location of the Rondel Village near the center of 7 Mile Beach was great. The market area just to the north on the beach was great for buying souvenirs and a great lunch of patties. Also great experience to go to town and maybe have lunch at a little local place like Sweet Spice. Contrast that with the more opulent looking resorts out on the far west end. And climb the lighthouse while you are out there for great views and a little history. It is free but donations are gratefully accepted.
When to go
We went to Negril in March. The weather was fantastic. It is still during their dry season at that time, however things were still lush compared to our frozen surroundings in Minnesota at this time of the year. We had some clouds and a few minutes of rain the first 2 days and sunshine the rest of the week.
Getting there
We used One Stop Vacations for ground transportation to and from the airport in Montego Bay. It was a private shuttle so we did not have to stop at any other hotels to pick up or drop off anyone else. However, our driver did stop for us on the way to our hotel to grab some lunch and at the grocery store to pick up a few snacks and drinks for our stay. The cost was extremely reasonable compared to public shuttle services and the service was great and very reliable.
What to pack
Do pack swimsuits and sunscreen! Have some smaller bills to buy fruits or juices or other small things along the beach as they probably won't have much change. Everyone seemed ok with US or Jamaican dollars.
Shopping
There is a little mall called Time Square about a mile north of town across from 7 mile beach. Favorite souvenir places were along the beach, however. About 100 yards to the north of Rondel Village, Robert Woolery makes beautiful wood carvings and Michael next door to him makes painted sand covered souvenirs. About 100 yards to the south of Rondel Village you can find the best tie-dyed t-shirts that are different from all the rest at a guy's stand near a little music store.
Dining
It was great service and convenient at the Island Twist restaurant right at our hotel. Other great spot for excellent food was Kuyaba and Sweet Spice was good for a small diner feel in town. You can get great jerk chicken at any number of stands along the road. There are great patties at a little stand, I think it was called Nala's, in the little market area along the beach about 100 yards north of Rondel Village. You can also get fruit, juice, even lobster from sellers right on the beach.
Outdoors or beach
7 Mile Beach is fantastic. There are a lot of sellers going up and down the beach trying to sell you any number of things from foods, juices, etc, to jet ski rides, boat rides, horseback rides. They are all respectful if you just tell them you are fine. At Rondel Village and many of the hotels, a guard at the beach will make sure no one bothers you.

“Loved our stay”

Very pleasant stay. The staff was friendly, the grounds and buildings were well maintained. The bar and restaurant on the beach served good food and prices were reasonable. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, a/c worked great. Loved the design of the place, can't say enough about the maintenance of the villas, all looked great, but maintenance man was observed painting the railings of one of the villas (many neighbouring properties could use this care). Would definitely go back. Only suggestion would be to not charge for the internet, but cost was low enough that we didn't mind paying.

“Great Time at Rondel Village”

Went to Rondel Village the week of Valentimnes Day with my wife and another couple. This was my first time in Negril so I did not know what to expect but it will not be my last. We travel often and when we go to the Islands or Mexico we usually went to All-Inclusives but tired of them for many reasons. I chose Rondel Village based on reviews and was not disappointed. The staff and management cannot do enough for you. The room are not fancy but are spotless. We stayed in the Pear room which is on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. We had a very nice balcony on which we enjoyed sitting out reading and having our coffee in the morning. There is a restaurant and bar on site which is located on the beach however that is not owned by the hotel. We only had breakfast there but is was very good and reasonably priced as were the drinks. Again the people who worked there were also fantastic. The beach is great it is in 2 sections one which is behind a wall which had a lot of trees for shade and there is a small portion of beach outside the wall. The staff assigned to the beach ( John & Carl) are great they will get you your towels, lounge chairs or any thing else you may need. Being that there are only 40 units the beach never appeared to be crowded amd you had no problems getting chairs etc. I must also say the 7 mile beach is fantastic. We will be going back to Negril in the future and would not consider staying anywhere else.

Area recommendations
If you go to Negril do yourself a favor and go to Ivan's for dinner as it is fantastic and the atmosphere is over the top. If you want to go they will have cab pick you up at your hotel and you are only charged for the ride back. Also while there walk the beach as there are many vendors selling different kinds of fodd. We tried patties Niah's which were great.

“Better than Expected”

The Rondell Village is a little jewel among the many hotels along the 7 mile beach. Although it is an older facilities it is extremely well maintained and very, very clean. We found the staff to be so friendly and accommodating. We were originally in a room on the street. The street noise level is high. We asked to be moved and they gladly changed our room...in fact coming to find us on the beach to help move suitcases. How did they know who we were on the beach! That's how attentive to detail the staff was. They were always asking if everything was ok and if we were happy. For convenience we had breakfast every morning at the attached restaurant. The ambiance and service were excellent. The food was good...omlettes and pancakes, yum. The bartenders were so nice and would make whatever you wantd. One of our travel companions wanted Cointreau and they didn't have it but went out to get it so they would the next time he asked. How sweet! Yes, we are already planning our return trip.

Area recommendations
The West end had some nice restaurants...Ivan's at Catch a Falling Star was sooooo good and what a view. Service a little slow but worth the wait. Rick's for sunset and cliff divers was a nice way to spend an afternoon. Get there for sunset and a Red Stripe. Both restaurants will send a shuttle to Rondell to pick you up and you just pay your cab fare home. Well worth it.
Outdoors or beach
We loved the beach just outside the facility. Yes, the Jamaicans come along selling their wares but if you give them a polite "no thanks" they are immediately on their way. We loved seeing the fruit lady every day and bought bananas and coconut. My friend and I both had a massage and the masseuse was polite, clean and sweet. It was not a "professional" massage as you would receive in the States but it was pleasant and is done on a table right on the beach. No privacy so if that bothers you it might not be your cup of tea. Its not a side show but it is out in the open. It is immediately adjacent to the Rondell beach so it is convenient enough. We lunched every day at different locations...not sure of names...jerk chicken at "Breakers" and patties at "Niah's" were both so very good...craving more! Catch Norman coming down the beach on his rusty old bike...he sells patties from Juicy Beef and they were still hot and yummy so not worth the trip into town to get them. Skip Margueritaville for food...not too good, but a fun place for a drink.
