“It's Just Ok”
The staff was fiendly. The hotel is located on a steep hill so venturing off the property requires comfortable walking shows. The surrounding area is full on natives. The Pros easy to get food/drinks & walk to the beach, Cons there is nothing o do on the hotel grounds, the pool is dirty it was never cleaned the entire 5 days we were there. Also any Tourist attractions require a taxi service to visit ex Ricks Cafe about 20 mins away$20US taxi ride. There is not any public bus/city transit system in Negril (there is bus service in Mo Bay & Kingston)..dont think I would stay here again, it just was not relaxing as the property is not well lite and the locals are very, very aggressive the moment you walk out the front gate.
“Needs Work”
More maintenance needed on hotel
“Grande dame of Negril”
Everyone could use a little nip tuck with age. Friendly staff and ideal location.
“Very Outdated”
Very disappointed in the hote. When I checked in I had on one bath towel which wasn't accomdated for two people. I didn't have a mattress pad cover on mattress, dirty blanket on bed. Hotel is very outdated.
“Resting at the Carribean”
Carribean is a nice place to stay if you want to be located near shops, West End and Beach but can't afford to stay at the more expensive choices on the beach. The staff from housekeeping, management, front desk, security, and any other help in general is courtesy and available. They aim to ensure your stay is pleasant. Slow season, expect the restaurant to be closed, but this is typical at many of the non-all inclusive hotels. It's difficult to shop and not have food spoil when season is low. I would recommend staying here, after having stayed there many times over the years. Even the drivers available on the property are reasonable with their transportation fees.
“walk under the light”
not good
“I've Seen Better”
This was not my first time in Negril, but this hotel made me not want to go back. The room could have been cleaner, and the front desk could have been more responsive to requests for towels and our room's remote. I recommend this hotel if you're only looking for a place to sleep and won't be spending much time there. Otherwise, go elsewhere.
“Not a Happy Camper”
I reserved a room prepaid via preferred website when I arrived the property and buildings looked charming until the luggage and I went to the room. I had reserved & paid for a garden view w/balcony refrigerator & microwave. The room I stepped into was a cave dark, dreary, a real dive no garden view no balcony, clearly the bedding was old, the mattress lumpy, & no microwave. The bathroom looked dirty no tub & long narrow shower, all the floors hadnt been swept & were sandy. I was handed the key I and I left the property. Immediately I went to the nearest internet cafe and looked up the website I had used to book as well as the as the hotel website double checked the description & imenities then went back to the front desk told them what I had done and demanded a different room one which I had actually paid for. I was told they had nothing else available they were fully booked I then demanded a full cash refund then I was asked if I would be willing to come back in one hour. We went & had dinner we returned and were given a room very similar to what I had reserved & paid for, w/all amenities. The floors & furniture were dirty, but we did have clean linens on the bed, The pool was great! Clean and not crowded. Will not book there again or refer others there.
“Needs MAJOR REMODELING!!!!!”
The hotel needs major renovating/upgrading the safe boxes we requested the key (we were willing to pay the $3 a day fee) they had no keys available for both the rooms we were in. due to the ac blew and we had to swtitch rooms the next day the rooms are infested with ants and the pool water was GREEN!!!!! No restaurant or bar was told when i checked in that it was being renovated but we didn't see any renovating going on the entire 2 weeks we were there!!!!!
“Great Place to Stay”
Overall, great stay. Near downtown(shops, restaurants, and the bank). We ate at Burger King for breakfast a lot, Jamaica is not an early-rising community. There's a bakery on the other side of the super market only a 5 min walk away that makes great deli sandwiches. The staff was friendly. We got upgraded to an ocean view room from a garden view room for no additional cost when we checked in. There's a nice gift shop now located inside the hotel. The view was spectacular and the beach is more like a 10 min walk to a nearby park that you can get access to the beach. Only thing we did not like was one of the security guards would meet up with us on the street downtown and practically beg us for money or for him to sell us something, socks, flags or whatever. He even called my fiance a hillbilly because we didn't want to buy anything from him. But other than that, we enjoyed our time. It is quiet there, not exactly a "resort" like the others with restaurants and drinks and all. It doesn't offer that. But it is quiet yet only a 3 min walk to downtown. On busy nights you can hear commotion from the downtown bar scene but not too bad. They do have offer a driver, Russell, and he gives free rides to beach of Margaritaville for free from 9-1. Whenever we needed something, the staff was always willing to help right away.
