“Good bet for a short stay”

This hotel is more or less typical of the hotels surrounding the Naples Station Centrale providing reasonable overnight accommodation for the price. Don't expect luxury for this price. The neighbourhood is very rough and dirty and full of beggars and hawkers. Don't know about thieves but it is wise not to take chances in Naples. Anyway the hotel is safe and a great escape from the surroundings. There is no free WIFI at the hotel and the pay for service offered is ridiculously expensive (5 Euro for an hour). This is a major drawback when you are trying to make plans for your visit to Italy.

“Budget hotel - good location for transport connections”

Overall we were pleased with the hotel. Clean rooms, powerful shower although a little cramped. Breakfast typical for Italy. Coffee not good but hot chocolate a better bet. Anyway you are spoilt for choice for good cafes in Naples. Staff friendly but it is an advantage to speak Italian and of course for Naples itself AND you get better service by speaking the language. we didn't find the area a problem except it was noisy at night.

Area recommendations
Via Toledo is the main shopping area - expensive at lower end - keep walking up the hill and you will find cheaper shops. Corso Umberto generally cheaper except for the occasional designer shop. lots of street markets off the Via Toledo where you can buy cheap goods. Vomero is worth a visit - it is where the rich and famous live - 2 extremes in Naples. Most of Naples is poor The historical centre with its narrow cobbled streets is pretty but it is not pedestrianised so avoiding the scooters especially is an art form!! Naples generally much cheaper than the Amalfi coast. Exorbitant prices charged by cafes in Amalfi so always ASK the price before you buy a coffee. Naples has a reputation for crime but we had no problem whatsoever and felt very safe. Police are also very much in evidence on the streets.

“Very bad neighbourhood.”

Although this hotel was clean, it was not the friendliest of hotels. I don't think the people there spoke much english. Breakfast was very plain, and you were seated at your tables each morning . The surrounding area was very bad, being 2000 feet from the train station. Naples is a very dirty city, and this must be one of the more dirty areas. No-one bothered us, but we never felt comfortable, and did not venture out much after 8pm at night.

Area recommendations
If you are going to Naples, we strongly suggest that you stay near the Harbourfront, It was the only neighbourhood that we saw that was clean. Garbage is everywhere in Naples, and the city itself is very unclean. Traffic is horrendous, and the constant honking of horns goes on all day and night.
Must see
Must see and probably the reason you go to Naples, is the Isle of Capri. We went on the speed boat, which was very nice. Also Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Take the train down the coast to Sorrento, and then you can get a bus (Sita) down to the Amalfi. Very worth the visit. Pompei we took the Subway Train which was quite efficient. Don't be surprised by the graffiti, it is absolutely everywhere, covering trains and walls all the way down to Pompei. The Harbourfront in Naples is worth a visit, and also a little further North which has some nice buildings, and shops.

“OK But no free wireless”

The hotel is OK if you are spending more time out than in. Feel a bit done by them saying they have free wireless but had to pay 5 euros for 3 hrs.

“Pleasantly surprised”

We were pleasantly surprised on reaching the hotel - externally it looks more attractive than the surrounding buildings, and once we'd been buzzed in through the main door this impression continued. Check in was smooth, and we took the lift to our first floor room. The area around the hotel is noisy until late evening - traffic and people. Our room was one of the few which looked onto the main road, most of the hotel being hidden behind other buildings. Even so, once we'd closed the windows and shutters, we didn't find the noise too intrusive. The room was clean and comfortable, if a little basic, although one of the shower doors was off the rails and needed propped up by the other when in use. There was no airconditioning, which in the heat would have been useful. Breakfast was included in our rate, and the staff there were equally as helpful as the reception staff. Buffet style, there was an adequate selection of items, and the staff topped things up without prompting. We got a very good rate (around half what we paid in Milan the following week for room only) which represented very good value for money (we've paid more for breakfast alone). If we return to Naples, we'd certainly using consider this hotel

Getting there
The hotel is close to Napoli Centrale railway station - exit the main doors, down the right hand side of the square/piazza, cross the tram lines at the far end of the square and take the road opposite (we were misled by a sign for the hotel suggesting we should turn right at the tram lines). The hotel is tucked in a side street on the left of this road, just past the cinema, and flies flags at first floor level.

“Will stay there for that price and service”

Stayed in a singe room for three nights, with respect to location very stategic, good proximity to train station and town central, good eatery around the vicinity. Only down side the fridge in my room was not pluged after telling the staff i needed it, after it was plugged it was not cooling and nothnig was done about this. Staff are friendly , breakfast okay. Do not use the phone very expensive Over all for three star very okay.

“Comfortable and friendly”

Situated in a quiet street just off the Piazza Garibaldi in Naples, this hotel is conveniently located for the station, metro and Historic Centre of Naples. It was clean and the staff were friendly. We were on the 7th (top) floor, and while the neighbourhood was quiet, the hotel was not - I was consistently woken up by noises around 6.30am, which we think we identified as noisy air con units above us. This probably wouldn't be a problem on lower floors. The breakfast was a bit limited and the coffee wasn't great, but it did the job.

“OK but wouldn't revisit”

As a traveller on my own I was a bit worried when I first arrived at the hotel, right next to the station, the location is fantastic but the street and surrounding area is rough, full of tramps and policemen patrolling regularly. The hotel is a bit of an oasis in the midst of not a very nice area. The staff at reception on arrival were lovely and very helpful throughout my stay however the staff at breakfast were a little rude and surly. Breakfast was unappetising, the cereal was stale and the meat tasteless and obviously cheap and processed, by 8.30 there was very little left and when the staff were asked for more it took a long time coming and they seemed unwilling to help. The room was very small but the bed comfortable, there was a wardrobe but it smelt and looked a bit rickety, there was a nice tv but the Sky box was sticky and the remotes had no batteries. There was a fridge but it was old, mouldy and didn't appear to work, I wouldn't have gone near it anyway!! The room could have been cleaner, what you could see was clean but under the desk and bed was filthy. The bathroom was a decent size and fully equipped but the shower was about the size of a postage stamp, made worse by the concertinaed door which cut off an extra 2 inches when closed, once the door was closed there was barely space to move which made showering very difficult! On the whole the hotel was OK but I wouldn't visit it again and I wouldn't readuly recommend it to friends

Area recommendations
Naples isn't the best city in Italy but great for using as a base when visiting surrounding areas such as Vesuvius, Pompeii, Capri, Sorrento, etc. I wouldn't stay near the station or the harbour when visiting again.
