“Loved the old style and the bay view”

I would go back to the hotel, the restaurant was excellant, the views of sunrises and sunsets from our room and the terrace over looking the bay were beautiful. Loved the old marble and woodwork. Only thing that was not good was the noise of the traffic from the street.

“Very elegant”

Breakfast on the terrace was delightful with a fabulous view of the bay. Dinner was also a treat. The food and service was outstanding. The desk staff was the most pleasant and helpful. I can't wait to return to Napoli!

“The breakfast on the terrace was spectacular!!!”

I loved everything about the hotel and service. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was just spectacular. The panaramic view was beyond words. I would definitely recomment this hotel.

“NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE”

The staff at this hotel were very considerate. Unfortunately, they can not control the location of the property. The restaurant staff were exceptional. Unfortunately, visitors have to travel through a highly undesirable neighborhood to have a pleasurable dining experience. The local taxi providers were dastardlly and severely overcharged us. We went out to dinner one evening and the taxi drivers forced excursions upon us to the surrounding waterfront areas to pad the bill. The driver made unwelcomed advances to my wife. It was not a safe situation.

“Thanesh”

I came to this place on a rental car. Immediately the hotel charges 18 Euros for parking the car. The "five star" hotel is located in a very grimy area on a cliff. To view the beach which is a kilometer away you have to pay extra. Will not recommend this at all to any American/Canadian tourist, who are traveling by train. If you have guest - be ready to be watched like a teenager.

“Already planning our return visit”

A perfect hotel. Staff were discreet, soft-spoken, kind, helpful, and attentive at all times without being over-fussy. They dealt with delegates for a major medical conference and tourists (like us) with equal courtesy. A sea-view room, with its view of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, with ferries to the islands, is well worth the extra - and the view at breakfast (top floor) is breath-taking. Despite having travelled widely in Italy we were a little nervous about Naples (it has a reputation for being rough and difficult to get around) but that vanished: the location is as good as anywhere can be for public transport, given the sprawling nature of the city, and the funicular stop is about 5 minutes' walk (left), allowing connections to both metro lines, plus othe funiculars. We will return next year - March rather than February, for more sun - and are planning it already.

Area recommendations
Vomero (top of the Funicular Chiaia) has a range of restaurants. The new and stylish Mamma Oliva (via Cimarosa) is excellent - and has vegetarian food. Grand Hotel Parker's is excellently placed for public transport (which is easy and cheap): the Funicular Chiaia goes down (one stop) to connext with the blue Metro Line (for Garibaldi station, and the newly-built section that contains the Circumvesuviana - all far better than any London underground) and up to Cimarosa to connect to the red Metro Line which loops round to the Archaeological Museum. From Cimarosa it's a short walk to the Funicular Centrale which goes down to the area near the Royal Palace.
Getting around
Pick up a transport map at the information desk at the airport - the staff there are more helpful than at the tourist offices in central Naples. The funiculars and metro lines are safe and reliable, and with the exception of Museo Capodimonte we did all our exploring via these. We took a taxi up to Capodimonte (to save time and energy) but travelled down by bus. The combined Art/Travel card is good value and makes life simple - buying any travel tickets other rather single journey ones seems impossible in tabbachi (whatever the tourist offices tell you) but you can buy one/three day cards from metro stations, and validate them when you need them. If a ticket doesn't work (technology can get above itself, here as anywhere) the staff are cheerful and let you through the barriers without question. Taxis have fixed rates to main sites, and to and from the airport; if you ask for this they have to provide it and stick to it - and they did, despite our initial doubts that it would ever work.
Dining
Vomero: in via Cimarosa, the new and stylish Mamma Oliva. We ate from the restaurant menu because it was so interesting, but the pizza looked appetising, and were popular with local trade. The wine list is good, but you have to ask for it - they don't push it.

“Great view, but...”

Several things about the hotel were great. Comfortable room, very clean room, prompt laundry service. But these were overshadowed by inattentive service at the bar and generally poor restaurant recommendations from the staff at the front desk. Additionally, the much-touted hotel restaurant, George's, while providing a great view of Naples during the meal (if you're seated outside), had merely satisfactory food. And when any problem was brought to the front desk's attention, the response was a nod and a smile, and complete inaction.

“A Lovely Hotel Out of the Way”

The hotel was lovely and the room was extremely clean .Breakfast was served on this magnificent outdoor terrace overlooking the bay of Naples, on a high elevation. The down side ,it is a long walking distance down to the historic area. We arrived by train, and the metro did not stop anywhere near there, a very, very long walk up hill all the way. We could not do it, so we took a taxi. (expensive for a short distance!!) I love the historic area and Santa Lucia area. I would probably try to get a hotel that was more centrally located near Via Partenope next visit. If you plan to stay at the Hotel Parkers, be prepared to take taxis everywhere.

Traveller's tip
The Royal Palace,Castel dell'Ovo, Gallaria Umberto, and the beutiful bay around the Santa Lucia area are worth seeing.Stop for coffee and pastry at the historic Gran Caffe Gambrinus near the Galleria.Excellent!!
