Great location, can not get any closer to the central train station. Room was clean and quiet. Large breakfast. Staff speaks English. Called us a cab to the airport immediately after request made. Stayed there 6 nights, Sep 28 to Oct 3, 2014.
The hotel was beautiful - the saying goes "never judge a book by its cover" this is what this hotel is all about. Though the hotel is situated at a busy central area, the staff are friendly, even the visitors are friendly, the rooms are clean, there was nothing negative about this hotel. We are planning our next visit to Naples and we have already chosen the hotel - "UNA HOTEL"
"Great quality hotel - close to main rail station."
My wife and I had been up at 5AM to catch the train from Rome to Naples so that we could go to spend the day visiting Pompeii. After a full day of walking around Pompeii, we returned to Naples main train station and walked to the hotel (5 minutes walk). Feeling hot and very tired we were dubious about the town centre and the streets surrounding the hotel, but when we arrived at the hotel we were delighted to find a spacious, cool and airy reception area with a smiling receptionist to greet us.
We checked in and went to a very well appointed room with air conditioning and a large screen tv. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and had all the comforts and conveniences you could hope for in your own bathroom at home.
This is a very interesting place to stay, quite safe in amongst the University students, even if like the rest of Naples with its burden of litter. Well placed for the Metro, hydrofoils to Capri and Ischia and close enough (one Metro stop) to the station for Pompei, Herculaneum, Sorrento and the main station to get to the royal palace of Caserta. Huge numbers of excellent inexpensive restaurants in the area catering across the spectrum for the local population; making it difficult to eat badly. Advice from the reception staff was first-rate. A taxi to the airport direct costs only 16 Euros. Approaches to the hotel are a little daunting, until one realises what a magnificent job the hotel has done in very very awkward conditions; you cannot change the mindset of whole city, the raw excitement and frustration are still there to marvel the tourist. We have stayed twice in the sister hotel Chaia de Charme in the Chaia with similar stimulating experiences. Well done to the owner and the management for their vision. Warm even in the last week in November.
I study the archeological sites and after many visits have used this hotel as my base. Consider disregarding some of the dated comments as the hotel updates individual rooms continually and that along with this area is going through a renaissance of sorts as a result of the opening of its integral underground Metro (Metropolitana di Napoli). As you can imagine it took decades as they continually hit archeological sites. This is a most convenient area to consider and has been for a century (unless you don't like crowded areas). Line 1 specifically begins outside at Pizza Garibaldi (where its ancient line 2 begins inside the station). Get the "Artecard" for the multi-day bus/train pass along with the discounts for the museums. Line 1 is transforming Italy's largest Piazza as it whisks you to the Archeological Museum, university area, Pizza Dante, the Toledo St. shopping district, etc. along with Lines 2 & 6.
As you know this is an American brand name and reflects this description that blends with well with this Italian hotel.
we were very concerned when we arrived at the hotel. It is difficult to find and the taxi had troubles getting there. However, when we went inside, it was a different experience. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and informative. The room was great (a little hotter than we preferred- so we have some noise from the street because we kept the window open) and the breakfast was one of the nicest we had on our vacation. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to get out and walk the old streets of Naples and experience the street life and pizza.
