“Needs updating”
Not a whole lot of renovation done. Just seems this hotel is coasting based on its great location. Half the electrical plugs don't work, the make-up mirror was broken the entire stay(They didn't have a maintenance person available all weekend!). Rooms were quite small as well and when they touted a fireplace in every room, they only provided one artificial log per night. Big deal! Although my wife and I travel to Napa Valley at least twice each year, this hotel is definitely off our list. Too expensive for what you get. And by the way, a little creativity for the continental breakfast wouldn't hurt either. Same stuff for the three mornings we were there. Its like they don't care because of the ideal location. Just dialed it in as the phrase goes.
“Best in St Helena”
Good, not great hotel in St Helena. Walking distance to town and several great restaurants. Small, charming location and setting. Great attitude by staff. Great spa adjacent to hotel with full membership rights. Rooms are just not up to top tier standard. Missing convenience touches in bathroom. Small tv with outdated controls. Just a bit tired inside. But rooms are large, beds are comfortable, area is quiet, and staff is very nice. Walk to Merryvale and Farmstead or Tra Vigne is a plus. Overall best in St Helena. Not up to hotels like Vintage Inn/ Villagio or L'Auberge.
“Inn at Southbridge in St. Helena”
My 22 year old daughter and I both had our own rooms for our stay. She and I loved our rooms and would love to stay again. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and each room had its own fireplace. Complimentary firelogs, water bottles and apples all were included. The TV's had DVD players built in and the front desk has a selection of movies to watch. The Continental Breakfast was very nice. Try the english muffins. The are a cross between a bagel and a doughnut! Very nice. Also included are privileges at the spa next door. A three lane lap pool, jacuzzi and workout area. The Inn is in easy walking distance of downtown St. Helena. And right across the street is Gott's Roadside stand for quick good food and a very nice grassy eating area. I had the special of the day a Po'Boy bar-b-que sandwich that was delicious and I wish I had another one right now! The area was very well maintained. If I had to come up with a downside to this hotel it would be there is not much of a view from it's location. Overall I give the Inn at Southbridge an excellent review and hope you give it a try.
“Great location, not a 4 star property”
This is a good hotel in a great location. The rooms are large, and the fireplace is a nice extra. However, this is not a 4 star hotel. The price we paid (on a holiday weekend) was equal to a 5 star property, but there's no real service to speak of. The front desk was often unmanned during our stay, and the towels in our room weresimilar to those found in a garden variety motor inn. If the rating and the price were 3 star I would have given a better review, but this is simply not a good value unless you must stay in the center of Napa.
“A well-appointed Inn, would recommend”
My husband, (small daughter), and I took a one night stay get-away from the SF Bay Area & loved staying at this hotel. Easy walking to town, tucked back in a beautifully landscaped commercial-winery-gym area. The room was comfortable, peaceful, up-to-date, well-appointed beautiful skylight in the bathroom; 2nd floor balcony overlooking a casual restaurant. Great for a mellow, but connected experience. The only one who wouldn't be happy is someone looking for a full-service, lots of on-site ammenties type hotel -- rather its a mellow, well-appointed inn (no big lounge, dining, etc). The on-site pool is actually an adjacent spa, 16 and over. The hotel also provides passes to use the *gorgeous* pool & lawn facilities at a nearby country-club resort nestled in the wineries -- this was a perfect combo. I don't agree, or know why, other reviews critiqued the quality of the room -- We did *not* find anything to be sub-par & we are frequent professional travelers who are used to high quality accommodations. I'm writing this review, because I had a great experience, and I found the existing reviews off.
“Central to St Helena location is unusual”
Mid-week stay while my husband was doing business and I relaxed. Location was wonderful - walking distance to all things St Helena - downtown area, restaurants, spas. Tra Vigne right down the street, tra Vigne pizzeria right downstairs. Only quibble was for a new-ish hotel it looked sort of run-down in the rooms. The lobby was nice, but the room we stayed in looked shopworn - furniture dirty, carpet worn, hallway baseboard sections filthy or missing, nothing on the walls, bathroom tiles and sink areas cracked - and this was an upgraded room! TV was so far away from bed we needed binoculars to watch, and it was not a flatscreen but old style box in an armoire. I must say however the service was fabulous, the location excellent, parking plentiful. Just facilities need an upgrade/makeover. Stay tuned - I bet this Inn will be a player!
“A St. Helena Gem”
The Inn at Southbridge is the perfect place to stay in Napa Valley. There are lots of excellent wineries very near by and the Wine Spectator Restaurant at Graystone is amazing. We highly recommend a stay at the hotel.
“Won't be back”
It's a nice facility but the little cheap-outs like low-grade toilet paper and supermarket-fare breakfasts and the parking lot view left us with less than a worthwhile experience. Staff was capable and pleasant but not overly friendly.
“Very Satified”
Our room was large, quiet, clean and very well appointed. The complimentary continental breakfast was very nice. The Inn is ideally situated in St. Helena. We easily walked to 2 of the 3 wineries we visited on our 3 day stay and to all our restaurant choices. The Inn has guest rights at an adjacent spa/health club, complete with a 25yd outdoor lap pool and pool/sun area.
“Excellent small hotel in wine country”
