“Better than expected.”

Room was very clean as well as smelling clean. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Continental breakfast was one of the best I have had. Only issue was the air/heat vent which was right by my bad and not too quiet. I would return and recommend to others.

“Nice place”

I was a little skeptical to stay at a Best Western for a nice get away but was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was.

“Good price in Calistoga”

If you want to stay in Calistoga and not pay $200 min a night, stay here. It's right at the edge of town (meaning that it's a 5min walk). Good hotel for the price, in the area.

“Definately a keeper and a repeat return.”

The hotel staff was very accommodating and attentive. The breakfast was great and we ate in the courtyard -- nice ambience! We enjoyed the pool area as well. The price was perfect!

Area recommendations
Any place in Calastoga is pleasant. I would also highly recommend the Euro Spa and Inn off of Myrtle Ave. Fantastic. They are the sister Hotel to BW Stevenson Manor.

“Enjoyed my stay!”

The Stevenson Manor is the best Best Western I have stayed in ever! Up until now, I had not been impressed or even happy with any BW I had stayed in. They were always run down and "tired." So I stopped using BW for business travel several years ago. But the photos on Expedia, as well as the price, convinced me to try BW again. The only negatives I noticed were the bed and pillows were not as comfortable as I would have liked, but that's my personal preference, and no fault of the hotel. I also did not like the rate change on the Friday. I think that if a client stays all week, that their rate should change on the weekend. I also noticed that I did not have 3G for my cell phone until Friday when the rate changed. I don't know if that was the reason, but if it was, that's pretty cheap. Also, the internet service in my room was weak and slow. Not even the rate change on Friday helped that! But overall, I was pleased. I felt safe as I came in every night after dark, My room was clean. I loved having a refrigerator in the room! Thank you for a good working stay.

“Clean and comfortable in Calistoga”

While not the fanciest hotel, this hotel was clean and comfortable, and a great value. A short 2 block walk from downtown and restaurants. Good continental breakfast, and the staff were very friendly. We purchased wine from some of the local wineries during our visit, and the front desk held our wine for us to pick up later after we checked out so it didn't have to cook in the car.

Area recommendations
Take the short walk to downtown Calistoga. Plenty of shops and dining options. For wine tasting, go east 1/2 mile east to Silverado Trail and then south on Silverado Trail. Wineries start popping up immediately. Lava Vine Winery was a fun visit.
When to go
Wineries are packed (SRO) on the weekends. We went Monday through Wednesday and missed the crouds.
Getting around
A designated driver is a must if you or someone in you party will be tasting. Narrow, winding roads and wine don't mix. Make sure to take plenty of snacks and water to balance out your wine consumption. For wine tasting, there are too many tasting rooms to choose from, so pick up one of the free winery guides that you find everywhere and start making your list. The guides will tell you the winery hours, tasting fees, and if an appointment is required. Most guides also have a map to the different wineries. In all reality, you probably won't be able to visit more than 3 to 5 wineries in a day as most close between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm.
What to pack
Make sure you take a cooler or ice chest to keep your wine from cooking in your trunk while you go from winery to winery. We pick up a cheap one ($5) at the Cal-Mart in downtown Calistoga.
Must see
Visit Sterling Winery and ride the tram ($25 per person but well worth it). If you visit Rombauer, make sure to walk through the gardens.
Family-friendly activities
Make time to visit Safari West for the Safari Vehicle Tour. This is a great reward for the kids if they didn't have fun visiting wineries.

“Exceptional value for the price”

The room was quite luxurious for the price. The bed was very comfortable with 1st class linens. We enjoyed the large whirlpool tub as well as the large separate shower. The well appointed beverage center was unexpected with real wine glasses as well as cocktail glasses, refrigerator, microwave, ect. The room was spotless, and the maid did an excellent job of making it up each day. The complementary breakfast was quite generous, and the hotel employees were as friendly and helpful as one could possibly hope for. I whole heartedly recommend the Stevenson Manor Inn when you're looking for a quality plase to stay in Calistoga.

Area recommendations
Don't go to the Napa Valley unless you are into wine tastings, gourmet food, and visting spas for massage, facials, mud baths, and hot spring soaking. Yes there are some neat shops in the small towns, but it's mostly wine, food, and spas. I can't imagine spending much time here with kids. Once you have experienced the Petrified Forest, The Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, and the Old Faithful Geyser you're going to have some bored kids.

“Best Kept Secret In Calistoga, Until Now”

For the past 10 years my husband and I have come to Napa/Sonoma for 3-5 days every year around Valentines Day and we stay at different B&B each time. This was the first time we decided we would spend our money on the wine instead of staying at a "cozy" B&B. Well, if only we had known this place existed before. We did not encounter temperamental Inn Keepers or the overly sugary, Holly Hobby type drapes and bedding that makes it too easy to hide dirt and other stains or the well used bathrooms. And no creepy stuffed animals or dolls in the room! This is what we found at the Best Western Stevenson Manor in Calistoga: Staff was quick, efficient & helpful, room was clean and larger than expected, extra blanket and pillows in the closet, kitchenette with coffee grinder/brewer along with all the fixings, and, most importantly, the bathroom was very large with a very large (5x3x9) walk in shower. I would never ever soak in a tub that countless others have cleaned themselves in so the fact that there was this huge beautifully tiled walk in shower and no tub was such a wonderful surprise. The breakfast was wonderful and fresh and the lounge was clean. The staff was constantly keeping everything full so that you still got the same great choices even if you are the last one to breakfast. I keep mentioning how clean everything was. If I don't feel clean, I'm not comfortable. I was very, very comfy this whole trip. We'll definitely be back next year.
