The room was very comfortable -- the bed was great and the towels were soft. The shower was fantastic. However, having said that, we both found the hotel quite gloomy. The rooms were good, but walking through the halls - the ultra dim lighting when getting off the elevators made it quite gloomy and frankly, a little spooky. The lobby was also dim lit and dark. As a result, even though the room itself was nice, it was uncomfortable to be in such a dark, dark environment.

Second time here and still a great choice for a Napa Valley visit. Close driving distance to the wineries and also close to great walkable dining options. The hotel itself is nice and clean with great staff.

Good location. Helpful front desk. Parking easy. Rooms and bathrooms good size and clean. Battery in safe and 2 outlets near bed not working when we checked in — but were rectified quickly once we notified front desk. A bit annoying I cannot collect Hyatt “ stays” because of booking through Hotels.com - won’t make that mistake again. A/c and heating in room finicky. Nice coffee bar with helpful barista in lobby.

Only positives are the location and the breakfast. It’s a very convenient location - close to shops, restaurants, and tastings. We had breakfast one morning and were happy with the food and the service. However, the property and service otherwise are lacking, esp considering how much it costs. When we checked in we were given a welcome bag and were told that it contained water and snacks (ended up not including the snacks when we opened later). Also were offered a welcome glass of wine - which they never then gave us. The room itself was average. The entry way light did not work, the usb outlets on the nightstands did not work, the room is shabby when you really look beyond the surface. The floor is all scratched up, the lighting is poor. Also, housekeeping did not remove used mugs when they made up the room, nor replenish other amenities. Amenities are limited - no lotion provided, which is basic these days. We would not stay there again. We’ve stayed at other hotels in the Napa area that were better options.

Apparently they have a musician for the terrace restaurant. Because it was raining, they brought him indoors to play in the lobby. The music was SO LOUD that it was painful and I had to scream at the bar tender to order some snacks. You can tell it was too loud because the musician was wearing ear protection. So much for a restful vacation experience. Then there was the surprise "destination fee." of $34/night. I hate corporations that engage in bait-and-switch pricing to improve their rankings on search engines. Sure enough if you look closely to the fine print (several menus down on Expedia) it is disclosed. It might be legal, but in my opinion it is unethical.

Check-in was very easy. Staff was friendly and we were gifted a tote bad with waters and snacks. Such a nice touch! The city view room with a king bed was spacious and bright. Only negative was the bed. Did not sleep well at all. Mattress was uncomfortable and pillows were flat. Thankfully we were only there for one night. Also, saw no signage for self park so had to do valet.

Really enjoyed staying in downtown Napa which has really grown up as a city. Hotels like the Andaz are a part of why Napa has grown up. Sophisticated, non-pretentious, clean and friendly are the key words here. My only complaint is minor, but their shower/sink water was musty smelling and the combination of complimentary soaps in the shower (which was awesome) were not complimentary (peppermint shampoo, cilantro conditioner and rum bodywash).

Did not have warm/hot water in the bathroom sink to wash my face the first night. The fridge reeked of something rotting so it was gross to put my water in there to chill. It made me very concerned over general cleanliness of the unit. On the 2nd night they TURNED MY WATER OFF. the front desk's response was "oh didn't they tell you when you checked in that this was going to happen?" [Answer: no!]. Why book a room that's scheduled to have the water shut off??? The gentleman who answered my call said he'd refund me the destination fees of my stay but when I checked out in the morning he had not. The woman checking me out didn't seem too concerned about the quality of my stay but did say she'd refund me the destination fees. Given that I booked through Expedia I am not sure how this refund will work but I would like someone to look into this.
