Nice hotel, horrible rooms

Posted 13-May-2015
Hotel grounds are great, restaurant, lounge great but rooms are horrible, time for renovations. Would not recommend to anyone, too many nicer hotels in Nairobi to stay in.

Well situated hotel between airports

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Comfortable, clean room and good security
Cons: Reception efficiency
Good security, very slow check-in. Helpful but we arrived late at night and simply checking in must have taken 45 minutes. Included 10 mins to get the wifi code to work. Our luggage followed us to the room some 10 minutes later - we thought it had gotten lost. Emailed hotel twice requesting a taxi or shuttle to meet at Jomo Kenyatta Intl. No response. Called hotel, reception said no problem - they would confirm by email - but they never did. I gave up and organised transport separately. Reception needs to be much more efficient. Breakfast very good but extremely expensive.

Disappointing

Posted 18-Feb-2015
The bathroom door was broken, the shower floor was covered in mold, and the service was painfully slow. I had to go retrieve my bags from the lobby after waiting 30 mins for them to be delivered. The rooms are small and there is a bright blue light that emanates from the TV 6 inches from the foot of the bed and it is right in your face. There are many other nicer hotels in Nairobi. This is a commuter hotel for those who want to be near the airport. I would prefer to stay more comfortably farther away from the airport like I normally do.

Restful

Posted 09-Feb-2015 on Hotels.com
It was great to have the natural view out over Nairobi National Park, though the animals I saw (ostrich, eland, impala) were too far away to observe without binoculars - there are a couple of fences/buffers between you and the actual park. Also there are powerlines in the view shed which is a pity. The small but deep, clean swimming pool was a pleasure, food and service in restaurant was good, the d├ęcor is pleasant and interesting. Its all pretty new so nothing shabby about it. Convenient to main airport and they looked after my bag well while I was away on a side trip, though a bit of delay and floundering to retrieve it for me when I called in to collect it later. The entrance road is rough and hard to find at present due to road works for Nairobi by pass. When the by pass is opened traffic noise will be a drawback on the city facing rooms.

Overnight stay between flights

Posted 06-Feb-2015
Pros: Location near JK Airport. Friendly reception staff.
Location: A bit out of town.
We had 10 hours between arrival at Wilson Airport ( from safari) to international departure at 4:30 am. Ole Sereni is conveniently located between the two. Very friendly and helpful reseption staff. Room was nice and clean. We had some drinks at the pool bar to watch the sunset. The bar staff was not very helpful. The Margarita tasted like salt water. But the sunset was nice

Prices in the restaurants are very high!

Posted 11-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
Generally the hotel is ok. But the prices for dinner and all in the testaurantare to high for this type of the hotel. With the prices it is pretending to be 5 stars hotel. But with the rooms look and generally the way hotel looking, its not coming even to 4 stars. NO VALUE FOR MONEY YOU PAY!
