Nice location and view, but not worth the money

it's close to the airport which is great, and has a fab view over Nairobi national park. However, for the price there is a lot lacking, including why do you have to pay separate for the use of the sauna after a nice workout in the gym, a balcony door which could not be opened, a tube light buzzing and going on and off (and after a gentle nudge stayed off the rest of the night), no airport shuttle despite many people going up and down to the airport all the time, and a room which was far from soundproof which isn't great if you arrive during the day after a long flight and just want to relax. Reservation preferences are not taking into account and so you end up with two single beds rather than a double as asked for. It's going to be time soon as well for a refurbishment of the hotel, as the paint doesn't look so fresh anymore as a few years back.

Don't stay here if you ever leave something behind

Cons: Customer care doesn't exist.
I arrived late on the 10th January 2014 on route from uk or Tanzania. Everything was ok but I left some possessions behind in the scramble in the early morning. Despite repeated telephone calls and emails I received not one reply and no explanation of where the goods had gone. Customer care by reception, housekeeping and the manager were non existent.

Having arrived at 10pm in Nairobi we picked up a hire car and were at our hotel in 10 mins very easy to find Lovely welcome ,cold beer ,comfortable bed what more did we need .In the morning a fantastic breakfast (only advice try to book this with your room as paying separately was expensive )it's then in a great position to travel from easy to get out of the city .

Can't really comment as I never saw the inside of a room. After flying 9 hours from London and after arriving at the Ole Sereni's reception around 11pm the other night, I was brusquely informed that no rooms were available. The fact that I had prepaid $175 via Hotels.com and had a confirmed reservation didn't count for anything. It was quite obvious that the hotel staff didn't particularly care. I wasn't the only one; there were other wannabe guests in similar situations also stuck. Be forewarned. There are plenty of other hotels in Nairobi with excellent customer service, to say nothing of available rooms, day and night!

Stayed at Ole Sereni for 1 night in transit from safari to UK. Ole Sereni is about 10 - 15 mins from JKI airport and avoids the nightmare traffic entailed by staying in Central Nairobi. Best to request Park View room as opposed to view of building site. The mroom was large and well equipped and there is no additional charge for room service. Rooms have good WiFi (free) We requested a late checkout but this was unavailable due to being fully booked. Hotel organised a trip to Elephant orphanage which was excellent and good value at $80 for the driver to take us there, wait with us for over an hour whilst watching the presentation and baby elephants, and return us through nightmare traffic in a nice airconditioned car. We ate in the Waterhole bar twice - food very good - large portions and not expensive. It was nice to sit outside and look out over the Nairobi Game Reserve but we did not see very much. Security good throughout and would recommend to anyone transiting Nairobi.

Should have been better for the price

A nice hotel, but expensive and the thing that let it down was the service. First couple of days were fine but on the third evening I got a shock from a light switch and they said they would move to another room. This then took over 2 hours and lots of shouting, finally getting to the new room at midnight. At the same time there were two air crews waiting for their rooms so it seems they were overbooked. On departure I booked a car from the hotel to make life ewasier and tried to send another guest with us even though we had both paid for a personal limo. Cheeky even by African standards.
