“Great Hotel in Nagoya”
Hotel service was exceptionally friendly, and English was spoken by some staff. Rooms were quite a decent size compared to others we had throughout Japan. I figure a decent hotel size is one that you can open both suitcases in and still walk around each other :) We stayed here purely for the F1 GP, so we didn't really get a chance to do much sightseeing in Nagoya itself. But the hotel was conveniently located about 2 minutes walk from a subway and we were able to easily get to Nagoya castle from here.
“Nagoya's best hotel for the price”
Kanko hotel is centrally situated and has excellent service. restaurants and bar is excellent. especially the breakfast (even though it is 2500 yen) is excellent. The lobby is nice but showing the sign of aging. Rooms are also nice a clean but the set-up and furnishings are old. New large flat screen TV is a great improvement (they used to have the old type tvs) The staff from doorman, the bellhop, waiters are very polite and accomodating. Especially the bartender is great. He is willing to make you any drink and I was even able to get a bottle of wine from their French restaurant and he held it for me for couple of days with my name on it at the bar. Overall it is great. Lobby and rooms refreshing would be great.
“excellent value”
enjoyed making tea in my room pleasant staff that gaveexcellent service but room could use a little fresh redecorating i also loved having p.j.sprovided along with other amenities
“Very old hotel and small room”
Old hotel (They are still using actual key for door!!), very small room, old furniture, old bathroom, uncomfortable small bed, Noisy refrigerator and NO in room temperature control. If you staying in a room with window facing sun, good luck sleeping at night. Impressed with hotel service and very friendly staffs.
“Awful beds!”
Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in with pillows as hard as a rock. Clean but old. Over-priced. Rooms and halls smelled like smoke. Good location.
“Great location but tired rooms”
The location of the hotel is good as it's within easy walking distance from the Metro, with shops/restaurants literally on the doorstop. The hotel common areas are very impressive/grand, but we were dissapointed with our room which was very very dated and on the small size. The fixtures and fittings had seen better days (in the 1980's), however the room was clean and tidy. Had to ask for more coat hangers as there were only 4 originally in the robe. Overall decent value for money and location made up for shortcomings in room.
“Very Old and outdated hotel”
I flied into the Nagoya Central international Airport. You need to pass through immigration first, then you fill in another customs form. this was unusual, and costed me anxiety because I could not locate the customs form (which is only available after you pass through the immigration. I was surprised that the airport was very far from the hotel (costing me 16,000 Ren, about $200 USD, which is one of the most expensive ride from an airport to acity hotel). the hotelroom is surprisingly old, and the room shower, TV, and bed are very outdated. It feels like a motel in the US (even worse than the inns in the US). it should not have been rated 5-star. definitely will not stay there again. Interestingly, The Hilton is right next to it, which I was not aware. Nagoya is extremely hot with high humidity, and which is hard to tolerate.
“loved Nagoya”
This hotel was in a perfect situation.A short cheap taxi drive from the train station The staff were very helpful .Loved the fact that they carried our cases to our room and also to our taxi when we left. The rooms weren't as modern as some other hotels in Japan but everything was spotlessly clean and we had a great view of the park.would definatley book again.Loved Nagoya hope to visit again.
“Nice property, excellent service”
Very impressive and expansive public spaces and excellent, largely English-speaking staff. Room in need of a little updating bit otherwise fine: large by Japanese standards, clean, all the usual room amenities like toothbrush, etc. Walking distance from both the train station and the castle if you like to walk and don't have too much luggage.
“Nice Hotel, Friendly Staff”
Stayed at this hotel many times before and have always had a nice visit. The single rooms are VERY small, but if you just need a clean, quiet place to sleep, then it's fine. Otherwise, book a twin for twice as much space. Rooms and premises are clean.
