If you're looking for 5 star luxury, this is not the hotel for you. But if you want somewhere convenient to the rail/bus station and close to the town centre at a good price, this is the place. That price includes wi-fi, sky tv, room safe. Our room was kept extremely clean and, on arrival, Pasquale gave us his mobile number in case we had any problems during our stay in Sorrento. There were none, but he was always willing to give advice whenever we saw him.
Glad we booked.

Arrived to a beautiful hotel, however our room was terrible! Worst we have had! Saw the hotel receptionist to complain, Tony he was wonderful said all the rooms were occupied & had to stay for two nights in that room then could change to another room it was such an improvement with a great seaview, So much spacious & comfortable.
Fantastic location - 5 minute stroll to and from train and bus station/ both in same place.
Easy reach to and from airport. Train to Pompeii and Vesuvius, bus to Positano/Amalfi coast - very easy. Two minutes from cinema, 5 minute stroll to Tasso Square. We visited theatre just off Tasso Square and were invited to drinks beforehand included, the show was very good. Many shops and restaurants from walking out the door. Three marinas all within walking distance and enjoyable walks.
Very clean hotel. Poolside immaculate. 3 star and very good value. Didn't like everything on offer at dinner but always sufficient choice - starter of pasta or rissotto looked nice and would be enough without main course, I chose fruit juice as can't manage starter and main course. Macaroni was great. Restaurant staff showed good humour and had a few laughs there. I overheard someone saying they usually go on cruises and so much more choice of food-of course there is-that is what you pay for on a cruise.
All the staff are friendly and approachable. Really enjoyed our stay.
We stayed at Piazza Tasso for six nights. Plenty of time to appreciate the location, room and hospitality provided by Silvana. Silvana helped us on a daily basis with places to visit in and around Sorrento. Without exception her advice was spot on for restaurants, sightseeing and modes of transportation.
We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast on the balcony of our room each morning and a glass of Italian wine every night while we watched the action taking place in the Piazza. The location is perfect! Close to the train station (which is also the bus station), the harbor and smack in the center of town. The attention we received from Silvana and her staff was greatly appreciated.
Our favorite spot to dine was a small family owned (the Fisherman's Family) and operated (by Anna) at Marina Grande near the end of the pier. Well worth the walk!
We would not consider staying anywhere else in Sorrento now that we have been spoiled by Silvana and Piazza Tasso.
We stayed at Hotel Sorrento City for three nights, two weeks ago. When we checked into our room there was a chilled bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us. We were celebrating our 35th Anniversary in Italy so it was a nice gesture and an immediate warm welcome for us.
We read a lot of reviews on the hotel before booking. The rooms, as stated in the reviews, are small so we knew what to expect. There was enough room for us and we didn't spend that much time in the room anyway. I was not thoroughly pleased with the cleanliness of the bathroom, upon arrival, but not so much as to complain about it. The refrigerator wasn't cold and we did mention that. We were told it was because it was warm outside.
We had read reviews complaining about a sewage smell in the bathroom, which we did notice. Again, it wasn't bothersome enough to complain about it and wasn't very strong.
The staff were all extremely helpful and very accommodating. Frederica, Simone and Marco were always willing to answer questions, guide us to restaurants and attractions, and were very friendly. They all got us ice cubes, which seems to be hard to come by in Italy!
Based on other reviews, we requested a room with a balcony facing the street, which we were given. We passed every evening sitting on the balcony, with our wine, watching the craziness of the busy city and all of the people in it. Very entertaining!
Sorrento is beautiful. Would stay at this hotel again.
