“Outstanding location”
We stayed at "Al-Waha" which is one of two "family oriented" hotels at the resort. This is our second visit to the hotel, the first visit was during the soft opening of the resort much has changed since then: more restaurants, a spa, a small shopping mall and more rooms. The resort has beautiful location on the beach surrounded by rocky hills. No jet skies no jet boats, very quite and virgin beach. The sea food restaurant is highly recommended both quality of food and location.
“Very relaxing, quality service.”
Great hotel service, nice private pool/beach, great restaurants. Only let down by sister hotels in same resort, which are far less comfortable and welcoming.
“Not cheap but worth it”
We stayed in Al Husn, great for couples getting away from kids and families, they stay at Al Bandar and Al Watan. The staff are terrific, nothing too much trouble. Dining in the hotel is excellent but beware Al Baite, the fish restaurant; I ordered John Dory on the Maitre D's advice and ended up with 800g of fish, at considerable cost! Entirely my fault as I did not listen carefully enough when the waitress showed me the fish and explained the pricing; it was excellent, but 800g is far too much for one dish - BEWARE! My wife enjoyed one and a half lobsters for a fraction of the cost of my fish. Apart from that small but expensive glitch we had a very enjoyable experience and will certainly consider going again.
“Little Slice of Heaven”
Wonderful hotel in an amazing location. The staff, hotel, the beach, the pools and lazy river were all perfect. The buffets, although a bit pricey for dinner, were delicious, high quality and offered a huge variety of cuisines. The kids and parents loved it!
“Simply Amazing!”
Must visit for anyone who's looking to relax and escape from reality!
“Oman family bliss!”
I'll keep this short - the best family hotel we've stayed at. Everything for the kids and for mum and dad. Could lower the prices in the spa - it's very pricey, but I won't let that detract from an overall great family trip.
“OK, but fatigued resort. Needs revitilisation.”
The Hotel is pleasant, not amazing. Directions to the Hotel are non-existant and it is waaaaaay out of town. Spent 2.5 hrs driving around asking everyone 4 location. Simple to put map or GPS coords on the website, poor form for such a world-wide franchise. The environment is attractive, however no access 2 landscape outside hotel area . The recreation amenities are looking a little tired, some are rubbish. Pools are shallow and rather plain. The Hotel closed the beach when the waves reached ankle height - as this is one of the major attractions of the facility (on the beach) this is a poor management decision. No alternatives offered by staff. The staff should transfer guests up to next beach (part of the resort as well). Common ME establishment - charge well, nice facade, smile alot, but not committed to outstanding customer service particularly poor telephone manner and assistance. If you are familiar with ME "customer service" standards this will not surprise you, if u r used to Western standards you will frustrated and get yourself worked up - don't, yelling won't change a thing and will ruin your holiday. In summary, nice, isolated from the city, rooms way 2 small for 2 beds, poor TV selection, no in-house movies or music. Meals very expensive. Probably won't bother again, just a bit tired and retro. OK for 1-2 nights, but that is all.
“Best Resort hotel in the Gulf region”
took my family to Shangri-La Muscat for a short Easter Break and had a outstanding experience there. We are used to these kind of 'full resort' hotels in back in Asia but this is the first one of its type we have found in the Gulf. The facilities were very new and especially the room was very luxurious. We managed to get interconnecting rooms so kids were nearby. The hotel staff have obviously been trained Shangri La style and were great. The pools and beach were well maintained and as a three hotel resort complex we had access to a number of pools. The sea beach was also enjoyable and we actually found the water in the sea actually cooler than the pool ! The beach itself did not have much sand but the water was great. There are a number of restaurants to choose from including a good room service and nightly entertainment. Food was fine though not great. The minor negative things I can think of was there should be more activities (unless you just want to sun bathe and read a book) both water sports and inland trips offered. The dolphin watch was there but full so could not go ! Also as self enclosed resort there is nothing else outside to do except the local souk. On the whole a great relaxing stay for the whole family and would certainly recommend it for a family. Look out for Expedia deals though to get a good value package !
“absolutely loved it”
Resort was beautiful, service was great, food was exceptional. Highly recommended.
“"Paradise Found"”
Utter luxury awaits at the Al Husn - set in a beautiful cove with views of the sea and mountains. Attentive yet unobrusive staff whose sole purpose is to serve you. Spacious comfortable rooms with a huge comfortable bed that was hard to leave!!! Superb breakfast selection with hot dishes prepared individually ...no soggy scrambled eggs served here. Beautifully displayed selection of cheeses,, smoked salmon, cereals, breads/cakes and huge choice of juices. We dined at the Seafood restaurant - service was impeccable and food to match. Also dined at Samba - food good but a buffet is a buffet - food unexceptional. Cocktail hour very pleasant and elegant but 6.00 pm maybe a tad early. If I had to be really picky a central bar/lounge for guests to mingle would have been welcome and also some form of entertainment i.e. a gentle jazz quartet perhaps. Prices alsory very steep for food and beverages, otherwise sheer perfection......
