“Average”
Building is old and run down; rooms small; bathrooms old, view on parking lot. Access to beach but no facilities (beach chairs, towels, boats, volleyball nets, etc) Good restaurants
“Great place to stay in Muscat”
We have just returned from a week staying at the Intercontinental in Muscat. The hotel was great, we had a large Club room on the 4th floor which was spotlessly clean, towels were refreshed twice a day and the bathroom was spacious. Plenty of complimentary water was left in the room each day and the bed was massive and had the best choice of pillows we’ve had anywhere. Included with a club room we had use of the Club Lounge which had breakfast, soft drinks and snacks throughout the day and happy hour between 7 and 9pm with wine and spirits. The hotel staff were all very friendly; the grounds were great, lovely gardens and pool areas with plenty of sun loungers and shade. We ate at 3 of the hotel restaurants and although not cheap we didn’t feel ripped off, the food was good and at both Trader Vic’s and Tomato you could sit outside. We explored Muscat using local Taxis and felt very safe. If we return to Muscat we will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
“Terrific getaway in Muscat”
The Intercontinental is located out of town, but it's a short taxi ride to the Old City. Meanwhile, walking on the beach is lovely as are the vies from the rooms. The restaurants are first rate and the staff couldn't be more helpful. From the sports and massage to the concierge service we were impressed. Extend wifi to the hotel and the experience would come close to perfect.
“Not Impressed.”
After staying in the Sheraton Abu Dhabi last year, we were a little dissapointed with I/C. It really needs an uplift. Especially the bathroom. We kept getting a very nasty smell in ours as if the drains needed a good clean. The bath water took forever to drain away and if you showered the bath filled up. A couple of times we had water appear all over the floor. We couldn't work out where it was coming from. The staff were very good and the food was very good. No complaints there.
“Christmas & New Year in Muscat 2010/11”
Intercontinental Hotel is not 5 star, room is dated, cleaning adequate with erratic timings between 08.30 and 15.00. Restaurents are pretty good especially the attached Trader Vics. The internal Musandam restaurant is pretty good for breakfast abnd dinner, with good staff
“Excellent Hotel”
Despite being over 30 years old the Inter Continental is a lovely hotel in a great location. Check in was seamless and the ambience and setting were all what you'd expect. The rooms are fine though not quite as contemporary as some of the more modern Inter Continental hotels. The beach club was perfect and the pool facilities, bars and restaurants made the stay. I'd definitely recommend staying here for a visit to Muscat and would stay here again should I return.
“Very comfortable Intercontinental”
Stayed there for 6 days . would thoroughly recommend bookingt a Club Room because of teh extras that are included with this ; it amkes it overall better value. Very good stafff and high quality food . Enjoyed the Mexican restaurant in the hotel . laundry service really good . Rooms quiet and very well appointed as you would expect.
“Good with kids”
We were happy with the hotel and location and it has a great play area and pool for kids, but, we were disappointed in the restaurant timings.....especially for a family friendly place. We booked a table at trader vics one evening after going there in the afternoon and asking if it was ok to bring children and if they had highchairs. They assured us children were welcome and it wouldn't be a problem. Well, when we arrived for our 6:15pm reservation, they wouldn't seat us because my husband did not have long trousers on.....he was wearing shorts. We thought it was ridiculous for a casual restaurant in a family friendly hotel on the beach to require long trousers for dinner. We then went to 2 other restaurants in the hotel and they didn't start serving until 7pm....again, ridiculous! So, we were quite upset with that.....especially since we have 3 children ages 6 and younger. Other than that, we did enjoy our stay and thought the visit to the traditional souk in Muscat was very worthwhile.
“Enjoyed the stay”
The welcome was warm. We arrived early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised tofind the room ready. It was clean and well-presented. The room is somewhat tired in its decore. There were two bulbs not functioning. They were fixed by housekeeping within one hour of them being informed. The range of restaurants was excellent. The pool area clean and well-equiped.
“Good family hotel.”
Great pool, play area and garden area for children
