“Great hotel”

Had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The pool is amazing and have a feel of King Ludwig II grotto. Excellent spa, equisite details. Enjoyed the stay at this hotel.

“Upscale hotel in the center of town”

Sofitel is bang opposite the main railway station. That is its first plus point. It is an upscale hotel with a terrific ambience, good restaurants and excellent rooms. Wifi is both free and for payment and there is more than one option. Overall, I had a terrific stay.

“Modern and impressive close to station”

A very modern and stylish building which uses the old post office in an imaginative way. Beautiful foyer and welcoming and very impressive rooms with comfortable beds and modern wel;l equipped bathrooms. Extensive breakfast buffet and the bistro is well worth a visit. Good central location next to the railway station and in easy reach of the main tourist destinations. As with all railway stations there are a few undesirables/drunks hanging around but this does not really impinge on the hotel. A pleasant experience.

“Perfect hotel, will return happily”

The hotel is a very interesting contrast between the old world exterior and the ultra modern lobby and rooms. Upon our arrival we were given an upgrade to a junior suite on the 3rd floor which I didn't like because it had a very strange floor plan with the bathtub practically in the living room and the windows were too high. The charming and very patient gentleman in charge of the front desk, Mr. Doro, immediately offered us another suite and took us there himself to be sure I was satisfied...I was! We got a beautiful loft with a huge window on the 8th floor that was absolutely perfect. The service in the restaurants, room service and bar was impeccable. The concierges were very attentive and helped us with our special requirements including a private tour of one of the breweries. All in all, a perfect hotel! The only down side would be that it is a bit too near the train station but it is something easily overlooked when everything else is so good.

Family-friendly activities

I highly recommend the City Segway Tour. It was defitively the highlight of our visit to Munich. It took us no time at all to master the Segway and Munich is the perfect city to do it because it has bicycle trails all over the city and there is very little traffic. This is something you cannot miss! Also, The Deutches Museum alone is worth the trip to Munich. It is amazing!

“great hotel”

Great, comfortable Hotel in Munich. Very spacious lobby and expansive areas beyond!. nicely decorated. staff friendly. all said hello/ good morning etc. Sauna/ swimming area are the best ive seen( photos dont do it justice) Definitely will return. Only 2 minor gripes. misted window in toilet could have done with a wipe. Also thought the expresso coffee was great facility....the minimal amounts of tea/ sugar and creamer seemed at odds with this generosity! Neighbourhood wasnt too bad. however across the road/ 1 block down had a seediness to it. with a mixture of sex shops and casinos.

Area recommendations

Area around Garnerplatz is pleasant with nice restaurants and bars. The English garten has pleasant beer gardens and a great place to get away from the city. We loved the Glypoteck sculptures and the Modern museum was interesting. The BMW building was well worth a visit, however the olympic buildings were being refurbished and appeared a bit shabby. We went on a trip via the tourist information centre to Salzburg and werent told it was by train....we were a bit peeved as we could have booked this easily ourselves and you dont really need to have a tour guide as Salzburg is small and the main thing to see is the fortress which provides audioguide. Munich is a very interesting city which is full of monumental architecture...though not on a vienna scale!

“would definitely go back”

Top notch hotel, great service, very clean. It is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. It is located right outside of the central train station, at the same time, very quiet. Depending on who you are traveling with the hotel bathroom might not be the most private as it has a sliding slightly opened door. I would definitely stay here on my next trip to Munich.

“Great Experience”

Experience was great - after an overnight flight from the US I walked into the hotel and was in my room within 10 minutes and the staff was very helpful and room service was EXTREMELY prompt and the food was great.
