“Good location; friendly staff”
Hotels near main stations are always noisy - but the upside is convenience of location, and this hotel is right on the corner of Schillerstrasse at the station end. Yes, the local bars erupted when their own side scored a goal (TV football was popular all down the street) and we could hear it all too clearly with the window open - but there is effective triple glazing had we wanted to block the sound. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and seemed glad to have holiday guests rather than the more usual be-suited business travellers. Very comfortable twin beds, and plenty of space in the room. We'd use it again, happily.
“A really good small hotel”
My room, to be honest, was small - compact is the word, and I would not like to have shared it with someone, but it was comfortable, warm, and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was splendid - good range of cold meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, lots of different interesting breads, croissants, Danish pastries, very good coffee, and, shoudl you wish, they will fry or scramble eggs on demand. The location is also good - on a tube line and one can walk down the pedestrian streets to the Rathaus and the main churches easily. Lots of places to eat close by. There are tourist offices in the bahnhoff and at the Rathaus so no worries there. I took a tour to Neuschwannstein, Ludwig's legendary castle - took all day, but as it included a hunting lodge he also built and a stop in Oberamergau no complaints about that. Admittedly the castle is a bit of a schlep from the bus that takes you up the hill, has an awful lot of steps inside, and you are advised to walk back down the road the horse buggies use - at least it is downhill. They do shovel people in and out, but it is worth seeing even if it is in truly awful taste - he was mad about Wagner and it is faux Gothic. At Lindenhoff he was mad about Louis X1V and it is all mirrors and gilt. In fact he was plain mad - or at least very eccentric, peculiar and gay. It is all an Elton John paradise really.
“Good hotel in very convenient location for Munich city centre and day trips”
We found the hotel staff polite and efficient and always able to answer our questions. The hotel is well located for transport links - with access to the underground and S-bahn directly outside the hotel, which allows speedy access to the airport, city centre and for day trips out of the city (although the city centre is also easily walked from the hotel). The hotel was clean and the rooms included all that we expected of a hotel of this rating. A plus was the inclusive continental breakfast, which was excellent. On the down side, the hotel is located in the seedier end of town and on a fairly busy road. This led to some noise during the night, as the windows opened on to the main road for rooms at the front of the hotel. Overall, however, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would stay there again.
“Great location”
The location was perfect - a 5 minute walk to the centre and Christmas market. The s-bahn was right outside the hotel making it easy to get from the airport to the hotel. Take the s-bahn rather than a taxi - it is much cheaper and very convenient. The only down side to the hotel was a lack of tea/coffee tray in the room - but the staff on reception were happy to provide tea for a small charge when asked. Other reviews have mentioned the area is a bit 'seedy' - there is a sex shop opposite the hotel, but it wasn't very prominent and we didn't find it to be a problem at all. It seems to be quite a normal occurrence in Germany - there is one right on the high street and in the airport too! Again - none of them were particularly 'in your face'.
