“Very good modern hotel, excellent restaurant”

Huge, well appointed, very clean room, with balcony facing a "tropical" swimming-pool complex; excellent breakfast and exceptionally good thoughvery pricy Indian dinner. Very convenient for Mumbai's domestic airport (literally across the street), which is why we chose it in the first place.

“Not so 5 star quality”

A 5 start hotel with local management. Things seem a bit worn out in the room. 5 start pricing but not so much up to 5 start quality. A good Indian restaurant for Andhra Pradesh regional cuisine but a bit expensive. Spent almost USD40 for a bottle of beer, a curry chicken main course with naan. The WIFI did not work for my network but it did work for the notebook of hotel IT support staff. Don not understand why but it caused inconvenience to me. One good thing is hotel offered me an unexpected complementary car service to the airport , which was much appreciated at a very late evening. Not sure I would come back again given there are many choices around the Mumbai airport area.

“Nice Place”

Pros: 1. Friendly staff. 2. Nice variety of food inside the hotel with different theme rest. 3. Good size rooms and balconies. 4. Very close to airports especially Domestic. 5 Hotel is like a Colosseum and in the middle they have all these rest, bar, and beautifully decorated sitting places. Cons: 1. Even after paying Rs 750 (excl Taxes) for 24 hours Wi-Fi, speed was poor and was getting disconnected. 2. After using shower floor was getting totally wet and had to call room cleaners. 3. Don't think about open space for natural climate which could be good for you if you didn't like Mumbai's weather.

“Highly overpriced hotel”

This is a highly overpriced hotel. Considering the fact that it is under renovation and the parking is miles away, they should consider the inconveniences in the pricing. However, I must state the cleanliness of the room was spectacular. Room negatives: Very high-tech controls (lighting, airconditioning etc.), no iron and ironing board in the room!! I found the demeanour of the front desk staff to be lacking in warmth.

“Really funky airport hotel”

This hotel is next door to the domestic airport. It is just a matter of walking out of the arrivals hall, past the taxi stand and another 100 or so metres. It is a very 'funky' hotel, however it is relatively pricey. As there is nothing else around the hotel, there isn't any competition so it doesn't leave any choice but to eat there. Having said that, there were a number of restaurants to choose from and the quality of the food was good.

“Truly not a 5 star hotel! Do not recommend.”

The hotel is definitely not qualified to be a 5 star. It has very unkept bathrooms and the bed was hard and tiny. It has no where to buy food... only 2 very expensive buffet style restaurants or you can order from the menu. There is no where to just buy soda or water or snacks etc. The pool is tiny as well as the gym... it is definitely not qualified to be called a 5 star hotel. The room reminded me more of a small roadside motel in the USA... like a 2 or 3 star.

Area recommendations

Not too far away are other hotels with the real 5 star quality. Nearby the Mega shopping Mall is the greatest place to stay in Mumbai.

“Mumbai airport area hotel”

My overall experience at the Sahara Star was brilliant. The 1 night rate I got on Expedia was superb value for a 5 star hotel that included pickup from the international airport & drop off at the domestic airport. The hotel is next to (literally) the domestic airport (but there was absolutely no noise), but if your room rate includes pickup/dropoff from/to the airport, they will pick you up from the international airport as well. My room (and I believe all rooms) face a huge enclosed central atrium with a lot of water bodies & greenery, and had a spacious balcony with good seating arrangements allowing me to enjoy the view & excellent room service. Even though the central atrium is protected from the elements it is much warmer than your room, meaning the balcony may be a bit warm for you (this is India so enjoy the enclosed warmth, especially since you won't find a duplicate view from your luxurious hotel room anywhere else). The room was very well appointed with a lot of lighting features, extremely clean & very well laid out. The bathroom is spacious, extremely clean, features both a tub & a separate shower (the "coolness" does take away some efficiency, since there isn't a lot of counter space to keep your bath stuff like toothbrush, shaver, etc. - but that's a very minor point for a short stay). One aspect could be a killer though - the atrium is used for events, so if there is one going on during your stay the noise will probably keep you awake at night.

Dining

The inroom dining experience was superb - excellent choices, prices in keeping with the 5 star experience obviously.
