“Good budget hotel in a central area”
Residency is a well maintained budget hotel in the old part of Mumbai. Very easy to get to all the touristy sites by foot, although by taxi is cheap and entertaining. The hotel room was comfortable, with tea making facilities, split system a/c, and a refrigerator. Meals were basic and inexpensive. The staff were very helpful and attentive, but not intrusive. All in all, a pleasant stay.
“Great location”
This hotel is a close walk to Marine Drive where at sunset the local families come out in droves to watch the sunset and exchange gossip in the cooler part of the day. It's close to many good restaurants and cafes so eating out is convenient and value for money. The hotel itself is clean but basic, my room was quite stuffy but after a night or so with the air-con that cleared. The room was smaller than I would have liked but it was adequate as a base in this vast city. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - always asking if they could help to get me a cab or if I needed direcitons anywhere. I would recommend as a good place to stay in Mumbai.
“Good location but needs reconditioning”
good location but the hotel is not great. The rooms are a bit dingy, but good hotel do not abund in the area.
“IDEAL LOCATION”
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. I was very impressed with the tour guide they provided at very short notice. The made my stay very enjoyable. The building dates from the 1940's and the fixtures and fittings are very stylish. My twin rom was very comfortable and clean. Room service is fantastic value, as is the excellent laundry service! The hotel is located very conveniently and major attractns are a short walk away.
“Excellent mid range option”
Excellent mid range option for Mumbai. Very clean, hot water, comfortable beds, friendly staff, great location. Everything you would want really! Please note - address on Expedia is wrong! Gunbow Street does not exist! Address is actually 26 Rustom Sidhwa Marg, Corner of D.N. Road Guessing Gunbow Street is an old name from British era, but it is not listed on any maps and the locals don't know this street.
“good location lots within walking distance”
helpful staff and a good location. a good base for some sightseeing and Mumbai streetlife just outside the main door. lots of interesting places, restaurants and bars within walking distance. room was a little small but was comfortable and well-equipped...good shower. a hotel I would happily use again
“Will certainly go back if I go to Mumbai again”
I was very happy with this hotel. The staff was great. The location for me couldn't have been better. The room service was good. The hotel was very good value for the money. The only negatives were a "touchy" TV (could have been the monsoon storms) and a piece of furniture that appeared to be half repaired, but these were really minor to me.
“OK 3 Star”
Excellent location. Hotel is good enough. When I checked in there were no towels in the room, but they brought them right up. Room was clean and bed linens were clean. No complaints.
“Would highly recommend if you stay in the newer block. Service impeccable.”
We highly recommend this hotel. As described above, we were upgraded to another part of the hotel (newly refurbished), because our room wasn't available for the first few nights, and it was so luxurious that we paid to stay on in this room. It was still extremely good value for money. The room was very clean and well-equipped, and we could barely hear any noise outside. It had air conditioning and satellite TV, a great bathroom and a high-tech lighting system where you could choose multiple different lighting options! The staff were very friendly - you may find it surprising that they sleep on the floor in the lobby and you have to creep past them if you come back late at night, but that is just the way it is in Mumbai (people sleeping on the streets everywhere), and they are so polite and friendly that it isn't awkward. They were extremely helpful when we wanted to book flights to Goa, taxis etc, and room service was very efficient. The location is great - very close to a lot of attractions without being right within the most hectic and noisy areas. Would recommend Universal Cafe for good food and a great atmosphere.
“I am not sure whether i would recommend to a friend.”
The residency hotel is a very nice hotel in comparison to others in Fort. However the area is very noisy. This hotel is only suitable for buisness people and also for short stayers. My partner spent one month there and she complained about the building work s that was going on constantly at nights. The staff is very nice but most of them are motivated by tipping. Like every where else in India . If you want a good service just keep on tipping. Initially when I arrived I was given a small room with two beds even though I paid for a deluxe room. I complained and was given the correct room the following day. The pillows were dirty, so was the duvet cover and the so called clean towels which were constantly dirty even though were washed. Also the air condition kept on breaking down in conjunction with the cable tv, All in all it was too expensive. it did not live up to my expectations. It is a safe place to stay. I would like to stressed the noise factor is also coming from guest who are checking in late at nights and early in the mornings, but the are itself is also very noisy. If you looking for peace and tranquilty stay at another hotel like the Tah Mahal.residency hot5el is for people on a low budget. It was only the staff whoo really made my stay pleasant. They are very helpful.
