We have stayed there before, so new what the the hotel was like, with its central location. Being there for one Friday night we found the bar area was really packed with people going home from work meeting friends, or people staying there, says a lot about the hotel.
"Very central, only ten minutes to Princes Street."
We took a mini break in Edinburgh and this hotel, situated in a quiet street a short walk from the city centre was ideal. Tour buses, town buses were only five minutes away. Edinburgh Castle could be reached on foot and there were plenty of restaurants and bars in the near vicinity too. The hotel has been converted from several houses, therefore the route to our room was a little confusing at first, but, apart from that, excellent. The room was extremely spacious, as was the bathroom, excellent shower, and breakfast, classed as continental, was plentiful. We will definitely return again.

We liked our first three nights at the Royal British Hotel that we returned there two weeks later for the end of our stay! The hotel is directly across from Waverly train station, the tram and bus routes. It is a quick walk to the Royal Mile. Although the hotel itself shows it's age, our small room had been updated and had everything we needed. One real plus was the entire staff! All were kind, helpful and friendly. We will stay here again on our next visit!
We picked this for our trip to Edinburgh Fringe in August. The price was quite high for student accommodation but typical for the time of year. I found it easy to find compared to other reviewers. We were in a studio (17), this was great with flat screen, wi-fi in room, cooker, fridge and en-suite. The only issue was with noise from other people checking in or out early in the morning. The accommodation was close to everything, the Royal Mile being 5m walk away and suited our needs perfectly.
