Great new hotel. Staff speaks excellent English, rooms are large and well-appointed. About 1/2 hour from the old Changsha train station, but allow at least an hour for typical chaotic Chinese city traffic.
Only suggestion I have is that the hotel contract with one or more taxi companies to insure a steady supply of taxis during prime times. Took us almost 1/2 hour to get a taxi.
Great stay! We were very well cared for. One small issue with the air conditioning but we turned the thermostat all the way down and left it on all day, even when we were out. That solved it. Attentive, friendly staff. Great meals. We'll stay again in July.

This hotel was at a reasonable price when I booked online with expedia. When I tried to stay another day a couple of days later on in my trip. They charged me more because I didn't book with expedia. Make sure you only book the exact amount of days you plan to stay because this greedy hotel don't give u a refund or credit. I book for five days in Changsha, but I needed to go to chenzhou on my fourth day. They wouldn't give me a refund on the extra day . This greedy hotel still had enough nerves to charge me for a local call that I made in my room, even though they don't give me a refund for the extra day. Make sure you have your own wifi. They only have the jack for your personal computer in your room. If you want wifi you have to be at the lobby all the time. I had a headache going downstairs to the lobby, because it was incovient and there were Mosquitos. Make sure you know how to speak Chinese because 98% of the staff don't speak or understand English. I had a hard time trying to communicate with them .
My first time in Changsha and I was blown away by the Wuhua Hotel! :) Everything was immaculate... lobby, hallways, bedroom, bathroom. All of the hotel staff (front-desk, maids, bellboys) was EXTREMELY polite, friendly and helpful! Here's the only qualifier: I've lived and taught English in Beijing for several years, and my Chinese is quite good. If you are an American like me or are from anywhere else outside of China, and you don't speak Chinese, you should get a local student/guide/interpreter to help you out. They are quite easy to find: virtually all the local young people in big cities like Changsha speak at least some English as they are all required to study it in school. :) I have often asked near-by middle/high school/college students to help me communicate better, in hotels, eateries, shops.... Chinese young people are SUPER polite, friendly and curious about us "laowai pengyoumen!" They are truly fascinated by us foreigners and "international culture." Many have the goal or dream of studying/going abroad. So you can take advantage of that great interest and interrelate/interact/have fun with them with ease. The key is to be very friendly and polite and humble yourself. Self-effacement and humility goes a very very long way in China. Add to that a good dose of patience, tolerance, open-mindedness and child-like curiosity, and THERE YOU GO! You will have a blast in Changsha! And you will enjoy the Wuhua Hotel just as much as I did. God bless you!

Staff are helpful and professional. They have English speaking staff so even if you don't speak Chinese you can still communicate with them. Breakfast is great with a wide selection to choose from. There is also a gym there to work out at. I would recommend giving the foot massage a go. They close around midnight so after dinner before going to bed, you could get a massage to relax and unwind at the massage room on level 4 or you could get a massage in your own room. They also help with arranging taxi service so as a foreigner you won't get ripped off.
I spent a week in the in July. I was able to check in late, and the staff were very friendly. I don't speak any Chinese, but most of the staff were able to speak English. The rooms are nice and kept very clean. I only ate one one of the three restaurants in the hotel, and the food was very good. I plan on going back to Changsha again next year and will likely come back to the Crowne Plaza. The location couldn't be better it's right downtown with more than one mall in easy walking distance. You can get the staff to arrange a cab for you if you want, but I used the bus and subway more. Both the subway and bus stops are less than a five minute walk away from the hotel.
