“Location Location”
Great hotel opposite gates to the ruins. Lots of good cheap restaurants close.
“Probably one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.Breakfast Best ever!”
The Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sublime - Fresh Orange Juice (as fresh as it had literally been squeezed from a freshly picked orange), fresh fruit salad, a choice of coffees, cakes. The rooms were quite, nice quality furnishing that all seemed to work, the heating was on automatic and a little too hot for us which was the only down side. The garden where we had a few drinks was really lovely with Oranges, Lemons, Grapes, Chilli’s – a really beautiful setting. The positioning was a few mins from the Amphitheatre entrance - which was great. Regarding the area, the people were generally very pleasant and friendly in the surrounding shops, but there were often young beggars on the streets and trains asking and hassling uncomfortably for money, also plenty of Graffiti at the train station. However, I felt reasonably safe in Pompei itself. There were many stray dogs, but none were ever a problem to us. However, arriving from and going to the airport using the Alibus bus was a frightening experience. The area outside Naples Central station to me is by far the worst most intimidating place I have ever been to. Some extremely dodgy people were openly scouting the area and made me feel very uneasy. I read Naples is as safe as Amsterdam, Barcelona, and other Euro cities, I have visited many such places, but never felt quite so uneasy as I did at Naples station.
“Convenient for Excavations and Centre”
Hotel is very close to an entrance for the excavations. It is also close to the town centre. Car Parking is in a paying car park opposite but free when hotel stamps the ticket. Buffet breakfast has a very good selection. Reception staff helpful with printed maps for directions to sights.
“Perfect for Pompei”
We booked Forum instead of a hotel in Napoli, and it was an inspired choice. The hotel was terrific. Lovely welcoming and helpful staff (who spoke great English !) Clean comfortable rooms, free internet at Reception. It is placed in a bustling modern town which although it has plenty of Souvenir stands being on the doorstep of the ruins, was always humming with people of all ages. Not just tourists but a huge number of Catholic worshippers for the church on the square. There were a good number of restaurants; we took the recommendations of the Hotel and they were very good. It was about 10 mins walk to Pompei Sanctuario station on the Circumvesuviana rail system, which we used to get everywhere. Herculaneum and base of Versuvi, about 30 mins north ... Sorrento, 30 minutes south. Overall a smashing hotel in a lovely town.
“Perfectly Located”
This is a well presented hotel perfectly located on Via Roma directly opposite the Pompeii ruins and just a very short walk from the square at the centre of the modern town. For a town centre hotel it is blessed with a wealth of outdoor space. The large courtyard with its variety of fruit trees and grape vines is a delightful spot for enjoying a glass of wine but there are also a selection of roof terraces with views over the town as well as balconies to most rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and a good buffet breakfast is offered. If you are going to Pompeii for the archaeological sites then I doubt you'd find a better hotel more conveniently placed.
“Excellent location for visiting the ruins”
We stayed here for 3 nights recently. Driving into Pompeii was easier than we thought it would be and there is a car park close to the hotel where you can park for free, as a guest of the hotel. This is a big advantage as parking would probably be very difficult otherwise. The staff were very friendly and let us check in a couple of hours early, which was much appreciated after our flight and drive to Pompeii. We were given a free upgrade to a room with a little balcony overlooking the hotel gardens. This was a nice surprise and was a peaceful place to sit at the end of the day. Our room also had a well stocked mini bar. The hotel is literally across the road from one of the entrances to the ruins. Walking around the ruins was one of the most evocative experiences we have ever had - definitely a must see if you visit this area of Italy. The main square in Pompeii is down the road from the hotel, just a couple of minutes walk. The hotel has a dining area and outdoor terrace. The food was really nice and reasonably priced (by Italian standards!). Breakfast in the morning was delicious, with a good variety. Overall, this is an excellent hotel and in an excellent location. We would highly recommend it for anyone wishing to visit the ruins.
“Excellent base for visiting the sights around Pompeii.”
Excellent hotel, particulary convenient for visiting the ruins at Pompeii. Also the bus for Vesuvius leaves from just across the road. Friendly and helpful staff.
“THE place to stay in Pompeii”
Right by an entrance gate to the ruins, Hotel Forum is the ideal place to stay. We spent four nights there and could not fault it. The staff were happy and very helpful. They recommended an excellent and reasonably-priced restaurant quite close by, where we ate for three of the four nights we were there. They were also very informative about travel arrangements and a coach which picks up guests from outside the hotel and takes them to Vesuvius. The buffet breakfast was beautifully presented and more than adequate for the largest appetite. The room we were given was actually more like a suite, with a sitting room and bedroom and a double balcony. There were lemons and limes growing on our balcony and in the hotel garden and the hotel itself was clean, nicely decorated and very attractive. One slight quibble was the muzak which seemed to be playing all afternoon and into the evening from two speakers under the balcony, which might irritate some guests in that vicinity. I would recommend the hotel to anyone ploanning a visit to Pompeii.
“Pleasantly surprised (thank you Roberta!)”
We had a wonderful stay during our quick trip to Pompei. The room was quiet and clean and very close to the entrance to the ruins. We found a terrific restaraunt just past the plaza, after the fountain, for dinner. Order the appetizer special. Breakfast was perfect, outside on a patio in the garden with lemon trees overhead. It was really unexpected. The courtyard/entrance area was beautiful with tables and chairs, grapes of all varieties hung above and citrus and pepper plants in pots. Roberta gave us some help with an email and fax for us, her good Engish was very helpful to us. She is a great asset to the hotel! If we return to Pompei we would definatly stay there again.
“Great Location will recommend to friends”
Lovely hotel, great location for visiting the Pompei site, the entrance is literally straight across the road, as is the hotel's parking facilities, parking is free. Very near the railway station so easy access to Naples and the airport.
