Our room had several repair issues that should have been attended to in order to make it fit for customer use. We arrived to find the TV removed off its wall fittings and just sitting on the cupboard with a broken aerial wire that someone had tried to gaff tape to it. No surprise it had ‘no signal’. The fridge was completely frosted over because it had rotted, split seals. The curtain mounts were broken so someone had tried to gaff tape the curtain rod in place rather than replace the fittings. The fly screens on the windows were torn, filthy and had lifted up from the window at a 45 degree angle. Cracked tap in the bathroom and a mouldy shower. We found out later during the course of our stay that the hotel is up for sale. So maybe the current owner has ‘checked out’ already. However, when we alerted the reception to the issues they were prompt to send over their plumber to repair the TV, replace the cable re-hang it on it’s fittings. He Was very embarrassed by the shocking condition of the room and was very apologetic. He got the restaurant chef to make us some lattes as an apology and took photos of the other issues. So at least the owner now knows if they didn’t before. If the whole motel wasn’t booked out, or the whole town booked out, we wouldn’t have stayed there. That said the restaurant is top notch, the chef is brilliant and I’d highly recommend eating there. If a new motel owner attends to some proper maintenance this would be a great place.
