DEFINATELY NOT 4 STAR
This hotel is located a 30 min walk from public transport. Even though it overlooks Fili Park it is not really inviting to a first time visitor to Moscow. The rooms are large enough although the decor is very dated. Built in the 1990s but feels like it was built in the early 80s. Room service was costly and no alcohol is allowed to be served or drunk in the rooms. Not even with room service. Laundry costs were expensive with not much change from $50 for 2 tshirts, 1pr drip dry trousers, 4 pr Underwear and 2 pr socks. Trousers came back with same stains on them. Not a happy camper. Didn't eat in the Restaurant or drink in the bar as the prices were up in the top of the scale for basic items. Driver of the Free Metro drop off tried to shake me down for an extra $10 because i didn't speak the lingo. Told him in the politely to shove it. In Summary A 4 star hotel it definitelyis NOT! A 2 star bordering on 3 star at best. This is just my opinion though. Other guests may have a completely different experience to mine.

Nice hotel in the middle of nowhere
Good all in all, comfortable and a good breakfast; however Advertisement on Expedia said it had free shuttle from/to airport which is untrue and it was in the city centre which again is inaccurate

Corrupt, Devious, Horrible and please avoid!!
Stayed here with a colleague for 4 nights, and it has to be one of the worst hotels ive ever stayed in, in years of worldwide business travel. The corruption that goes on at this hotel is unreal. We had a camera stolen from the room- clearly from one of the hotel staff, and they denied everything. Barmen and waiters putting money into their pockets when buying dinner and drinks, no change unless you insist on it, and some of the worst, rotten food i've ever eaten. Please Please do not stay here!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel very inaccesible
The Proton is a fine hotel if you can get to it. First of all, the listing on HOTELS.COM says there is a shuttle from the airport (free even).... NOT TRUE. Plan on a taxi or train. The shuttle to the metro station runs from the hotel starting at 9:00AM so if you have business that requires you leave earlier they will gladly charge you 400 rubles (about $12) to take you the mile to the metro station. PS: you can go about 5 times as far for the same price in a taxi. Also, when you arrive they tell you that the shuttle to and from the metro station is by appointment until 6:00PM and then it runs continuously - to the Metro on the hour and back from the Metro to the hotel at 10 minutes after the hour. Again - FALSE. I waited for an hour and half at the metro station for a ride back to the hotel with heavy bags and finally walked back. Not a short walk with a heavy load. The most frustrating part was the attitude of the front desker. I asked her about the card they gave me which claimed a continuously running shuttle. She pretty much said "nyet" and that I needed to call to arrange for a pickup. That's fine, but without knowing that and reading the card I was given by the hotel I had been stranded at the metro station without a ride. The moral of the story is do NOT trust anything this hotel says about transportation. If you are going to stay there just pack the money to hire taxis which is what I did for the last five days of my stay.

Good hotel for Moscow prices, rooms good, food ok.
It was a business trip so not a lot of time spent in hotel although the staff were friendly not overly or outwardly helpful. the rooms were fine and comfortable. Hotel provided a free bus to metro station and travelling around is difficult, as usual, until you get your bearings, a bit too far from the centre to walk, a taxi back from red square (a must) costs about 500 rubles. Local bottled beer is expensive, have the Heineken at half the price

Ok for business travelers, poor for vacationers
The hotel is on the other side of Fili Park, about 15 min walk from Bagrationovskaya metro station. They do have a shuttle once an hour which I used several times - it takes you to Fili metro station, trip about 5-10 min. The driver told me I can actually call the reception and ask for the shuttle to pick me up, but I haven't seen anyone actually do that (nor did I). The doormen were either unhelpful or simply ignoring me (if they don't open the door why are they there to begin with?) Let me note that if you are driving, they have a lot of both street and private parking. The hotel lobby interior is quite pleasant, airspace engineering theme, with plants and couches everywhere. The rooms are barely average. Clean, business like, but no character and nothing beyong what's required for the star rating. The WiFi is often not working, but that may be related to my room location - in the lobby it is better. Wither way, don't count on a strong signal. The breakfast buffet was reasonably good by Russian standards, with good salads, fruits, veggies and yogurt selection. The eggs we under cooked though (how hard is it to keep them boiled for 5 min??) Perhaps, the worst part was the bar with hugely overpriced drinks, loud music, etc. Overall, it's a good hotel for the price. If you are in Moscow for business for a few days, and know what you are doing - a solid option. If you are on vacation and money is less of an issue, some other place would be better.

Great staff. Almost all spoke English (not easy to find in Russia). 1 km walk to Metro which is Moscows life line for tourists.

Zweckmäßiges Hotel für kürzere Aufenthalte.
Nachdem wir mehrere Jahre im sicherlich besseren NOVOTEL (City) übernachtet haben und dort durch die überheizten Räume nachts nicht gut geschlafen haben, sind wir in das PROTON umgezogen, in dem man die Fenster öffnen und die Heizung selbst regulieren kann.

В гостинице красиво в холле. Номера комфортные, но на 4 звезды не тянет. На этажах есть кулеры. В номерах есть холодильник, мини-бара не было, чайника не было, халата и тапочек не было. Завтрак шведский стол стоит 800 руб. Мы взяли континентальный за 400 - вполне наелись: огурчик, помидорчик, пару ломтиков сыра, пару ломтиков колбаски, хлеб, масло, каша, яичница, компот, кофе и небольшое пирожное. В целом остались довольны. Но мы не очень требовательные к комфорту.

Хороший отель ща свои деньги, даже очень
Своеобразно, довольно приветливый персонал, чисто, уютно и удобно, трансфер до метро, хорошие завтраки, отличная цена. Прям все хорошо, но, обслуживание номера очень странное, за несколько дней через раз ставили шампуни/мыло, т.е. Иногда их просто не было, мини-бар также, через раз. Зато удивила на второй день записка чек на самом виду, что я взял пиво из минибара:)))

Прекрасное место для отдыха
После 9-ти часового перелета из Петропавловска-Камчатского в Москву отель стал прекрасным местом для отдыха, именно таким, как мы искали. Зеленый район, тишина, удобная кровать, белоснежное белье, хорошее питание, очень доброжелательное отношение - все это оставило самые благоприятные впечатления об отеле.

very nice hotel in Moscow
It is very carm and clean hotel with a nice price in Moscow. Even it is far from the metro station, but it is located in the center of the park. This hotel is not so big, so it is very peaceful and it has good facilities, too.

Хорошее соотношение цена/качество/местоположение.
Идеальное местоположение с точки зрения доступности ЭкспоЦентра на Красной Пресне, бесплатные трансферы утром и вечером. Весьма обильный неплохой завтрак, внимательное отношение персонала, тихо, спокойно. Ежечасные трансферы до ближайшего метро "Багратионовская". Минусы: не очень хорошая шумоизоляция в отеле, а также некоторая обшарпанность.

Businesshotel with all facilities needed
Clean and spacious room, modern bathroom. This is a very good alternative to all overpriced "western" style business hotels in Moscow. Price/quality-ratio is excellent. Nothing to complain about. Restaurant is open also on evenings and serves very tasty and fresh food, hotel shuttle to the next metro station is a real plus as well as airport-shuttle service. The only less positive thing is in-room wifi which is very slow. However, I moved to the lobby, which is convenient to work at and Wifi was very fast. I will book at Proton Hotel again.
