As a frequent traveler I am often not particularly overwhelmed by hotels around the world, so it was nice to stay in the National, a particularly beautiful old hotel located facing the Kremlin and Red Square. I was impressed enough that we changed flights and stayed an extra day so that we could take our time in Moscow. The staff were very helpful, all spoke English and were very professional and accommodating. I had a business meeting in the lounge with clients and it was certainly a good setting for that type of thing. Built in 1903 its a really nice change to find a hotel that's not competing to be the "most ultra-modern" hotel and if you like history, wander around the 2nd floor and you'll see a gallery of the famous people who've stayed there over the past 100 years. Quite impressive. Moscow is not an easy place to drive around (just take a taxi, the traffic is among the most challenging anyplace in the world) so staying close to your place of interest is a big plus and you would be hard pressed to find a better central location than Red Square. Public transport literally outside your doorstep if you're game to take the metro also.
Excellent combination of price, quality and location.
Standard room was very clean and matched room description.
Moved to 12th floor - club level - for 2 days. They offer free breakfast and dinner right on a 12th floor, free wine.
Business center has computer workstations, printer, fax, scanner and accessible 24/7
Location is very convenient, subway within walking distance - 10 minutes away.
However room prices are affordable, dining is costly. Breakfast in Vienna cafe will cost about $30
Stuff speak English pretty good and very knowledgeable and helpful.
I got a bargain rate on this hotel so was not expecting anything amazing. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was (a) Right next to the tube station so was easy to get about and into the centre within 10 mins (b) High quality rooms, very clean and tidy (c) Very helpful staff with reasonable English (enough to help you when you have general questions) (d) Provided lots of information about tourist activities (e) Quiet considering it was on a main street
Quiet residential neighborhood with swan lake just around the corner. Walking distance to everything. I almost hate writing this review, since it might make it more popular and known to more people, but fair is fair. This place is good.
