“Budapest Hotel not a bad chice in Moscow”
My wife and I spent four nights in the Hotel Budapest during the month of September. The hotel location is a comfortable 15 minute walk from Red Square and is quite centrally located. The hotel’s interior is a little threadbare, but clean and comfortable. Wifi was quite expensive at the rate of 700 Rubles ($28) for 24 hours, which is an irritation, but is likely par for the course in Moscow. My wife originally booked the Hotel Budapest with the objective of avoiding a hotel with loads of American tourists. This hotel’s clientele all seemed to be either Russian or from other European countries, with few North American guests. All of the service staff spoke English and were very friendly. The hotel’s concierge was helpful in arranging for a private taxi pick-up at the airport, which is very important given the one to two hour commute from the airport to downtown.
“The room iis not clean; the bed sheet was change and carpet is very dirty..many mosquito in the room”
The bed sheet was not changed and the carpet was very very dirty; many mosquite in the room and not possible the sleep.
“Only + is the Location”
Hotel should be 2 or 2.5 stars tops. Nothing good except location. Ended up staying in the sister hotel Peter 1 which was extremely expensive.
“Met requirements-worth staying again”
This hotel is well-located with Red Square only being about 15-20 minutes walk. Many good bars and restaurants close by or within 10 minutes of the hotel. The hotel is a little dull and the staff never seem to smile so it carries a sombre feel and is an old hotel. Breakfast was better than most offered in other hotels used on my trip. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers looking for a hotel in this price.star category. I had no complaints.
“You get what you pay for”
The hotel is not within 1500 meters of the Kremlin as they advertise, but the neighborhood is wonderful. We reserved a non-smoking room with Queen bed. We got a smoking room with twin beds. It is very difficult to get to the hotel and park a car, so loading and unloading are difficult. The counter staff speak English, but they seem to be the only ones. That being said, the included breakfast buffet is exceptional and the staff bends over backward to satisfy you. But if you're a non-smoker forget going into the bar or the lobby lounge. Including taxes etc, it is not cheap, and in the final analysis probably not worth the money.
“Unfriendly”
Hotel location is good. The place is a little run down, but my main problem was that it was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. The reception staff were nice, but essentially tucked away. What we had at the front door was a security guard with a constant scowl, as if the guest was totally unwelcome. There was a uniformed porter of some kind who was totally out of it (looked half drunk. I would say). The reception area and "bar" were really sad and uninviting. Those guards at the door, what is all that with the macho stuff. Rather pathetic I would say.
“Great Location - Great Hotel”
I stayed at the Budapest Hotel for business but extended for a mini break aswell. The hotel is in a great location less than 10min walk to Red Square past a multitude of great shops! I had a Junior Suite which was very large and spacious, beds were fine, bathroom very clean with great water pressure! I would definitely stay here again and recommend for both tourists and business people.
“A good choice!”
The Budapest Hotel in Moscow was a very pleasant experience. It was a 3 star hotel, but a very good one, with a nice breakfast and staff. The location was excellent, just a few blocks from the Red Square and next to the shopping centers. We also could use the concierge from a 5 star hotel next to Budapest, wich was very helpfull. I certainly recommend.
“Far from 4* hotel”
The only advantage of this hotel is the great location for the low price. I had all the meetings downtown, and all of them were in a walking distance. The pictures, that hotel posted on the Expedia, are not of the standard rooms, which I had booked. Do not book a standard room if you are not a globe trotter, and prefer clean, spacious room, comfortable bed and a nice furniture. The room I was given had filthy carpet with horrible dark stains, all the furniture was very old and bitten up. I had to go back to the front desk ,and ask for another room. I have to admit, they let me look at four other available standard rooms, to pick out the best one. But even the best one needed badly new carpet and a new furniture. Especially the bed - the mattress it had was old spring mattress, very uncomfortable. As far as breakfast goes, I will agree that it was plentiful and fresh.
“Unbeatable location.”
We took the fast train from the airport to Belorusskaya Station, then the Metro to the Teatralnaya stop, and walked 6-8 blocks to the Budapest . A 20-something man volunteered to carry my wif'e's roller bag up the 50 or so steps to street level. At 11 p.m. (in early June), the streets seemed safe. People were strolling around the Bolshoi plaza. Asked a young woman, and later a young man on a bicycle, for directions. Both were very helpful. The hotel is "old-fashioned," but the bathroom had been upgraded, and the a/c was new. Although the breakfast room supervisor was a little officious, the buffet was tasteful and plentiful. An unbeatable choice for the money and location. .
