"Casual attitude to customer care, but picturesque"
Had hoped for a more peaceful stay which proved impossible given the popularity of the restaurant/bar. Overpiced for a B&B over a pub. Room was pleasant enough with a seating area and en-suite. We had the large one (Garden Room), but others complained that their bathroom was either in a cupboard or shared, with access from the pub downstairs.
Clearly the focus of the business is the restaurant, this left us feeling very much a secondary afterthought and not valued. Given the high room prices, customer care and service was casual or virtually non existent. Returning after day trips we found the car park always to be filled by the pub/restaurant clientele, so had to park some distance away. Reserved spaces for guests would've made us feel more valued.
We ate a 3 course meal in the restaurant on the 1st night. The food was very good, but I had a main of homemade ravioli that wouldn't have fed a hamster. I counted 5 pieces of 2" x 2". I had to ask for a portion of chips to fill me up. Again, the high prices made this disappointing. Breakfast was very good, but given that it's a restaurant, a cooked option would've been nice.
Our room wasn't cleaned nor bed made after the 2nd night and no water or tea/coffee provided as we had on the 1st night.
We returned late one night and were phoned by staff to say they were locking up and leaving. We weren't told that we needed to take keys to gain entry independently. This was a bit embarrassing and again showed the lack of customer care
