We got a good deal through expedia for two nights, unfortunately not including breakfast, 26 Swiss francs just too much for us!!
But the location is sensational, just one street back from Lake Geneva and supermarkets, restaurants and other shopping very close by.
Room was good, not massive and the one we had, not much view, but the bathroom is a decent size, with large, soft, fluffy towels and bathrobes.... also had complimentary toiletries.
Staff were helpful and friendly and you get a free tourist pass which can be used for local bus AND discount for some attractions, which the reception lass did fail to tell us for, paid full price for Chillon Castle!!!
Would recommend this hotel if the price is right, Switzerland is an expensive place....

Great lakeside location - however, there are old , tired looking hotel rooms
Furniture and decor is very worn
Not enough electrical sockets for travellers, with I-pad/phones/cameras to charge .
Façade and restaurant look amazing but the welcome, greeting and service is poor,
No advice given re : breakfast , restaurant times until asked.
No advice given re : Riviera travel pass until asked
no ambience at the hotel.

Beautiful rooms, spacious and with individual balconies. The view was splendid. Breakfast is not included but the main city area is ~15 minutes downhill walk. Parking is 20 francs/night but right next door. It is not cheap, but then that's Switzerland. The train to Rocher de Naye stops right behind the hotel. Montreux main station is ~15 minutes walk downhill from the hotel.
We know Montreux well and the reasonably central situation within a few minutes' walk of the station suited us. The room was clean though cramped, and towels, coffee/tea making facilities etc. were fine apart from there being no milk/creamer. We had as expected a stunning lake and mountain view. The only disadvantage of the situation is that one has to cross the main road to get to the hotel building where all the facilities - including a rather chilly indoor swimming pool - are to be found.
I was at the hotel for 3 nights and we had a decent experience. The hotel itself was nice, the pool and terrace were nice, the restaurants were good. My only complaint was that the hotel should not be ranked as a 5 star. The rooms were tiny and our room was very small, very old fashioned, and had stains on the carpet. When comparing the hotel with the other 5 star (The Fairmont) it seems ridiculous that they are in the same category. I was ok with this because I had gotten a good deal on our room through the expedia unpublished rate, but if I had paid full price expecting a 5 star, I would have been very upset. I would recommend this hotel if you were to get a good deal on the price - not if you were paying regular room fees.
The Montreaux Palace was perfect. A little hard to find, as our GPS would not find the address, and it was not listed in the Points of Interest as the Fairfield, but when we found the hotel we were very happy. The hotel was perfect, the room was awesome, and the breakfast was a really great spread.
Booked for one night in a double room. It was a functional, albeit old and badly arranged room, that had a view of the bay and a nice balcony. Would stay again based on budget and location (centre of city) alone, but probably aim for something nicer. They are being renovated, so maybe better in the future...
