“Slightly disappointed. Good location.”

Slightly disappointed with this Marriott hotel. The rooms are a bit outdated and the bathroom was very small and not very clean. The bath towels and tubmat were dingy looking. The pillows were small and uncomfortable. Location was good, About a twenty minute walk to cannery row and aquarium which was a nice walk with shops and restaurants along the way. Very close to fisherman wharf. The clerk at Starbucks was great. Overall not a typical experience of staying at a Marriott.

Area recommendations

The short drive to Carmel was well worth it. Beautiful beach, charming shops and lots of restaurants.

“Acceptable accomodations.”

The parking staff was great. Tricky to get to based on the way the street runs from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Good location.

Family-friendly activities

Reserve sail boat activities through the aquarium as well as behind the scenes tours. You go to the front of the line with "will call" tickets. My 7yo daughter loved the small personal tour.

“Perfection”

I can't express how lovely my stay was. All I can say is this hotel was to perfection. All of the staff were helpful and I adore the woman who arranged my tours. My room was beautiful with the bay view and even got to see the sunrise when I was up early to go whale watching. I'll be back for sure!

Fisherman's Wharf area because it's walking distance to nearly everything and it's beautiful.

The Cypress Inn in Carmel has the best burgers ever! Don't miss that!

Check out the concerts and art exhibits in Carmel at the Cypress Inn Owned by Doris Day. Dog friendly.

“Nice hotel in a great location!”

The hotel was very clean and everyone there was extremely friendly and helpful. The location was great! We could easily walk to fisherman's wharf and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We also walked to the aquarium, but it was quite a trek to get back. We loved it and can't wait to go back again.

Area recommendations

Staying near the wharf is highly recommended. That's where a lot of the action is.

When to go

If you go at New Year's Eve there's an event called First Night. It's like a street fair. There are food booths and lots of entertainment.

Dining

We had dinner at Cibo, which is right around the corner from The Marriott. It's a very nice Italian restaurant that has great atmosphere and great food. They also have jazz music nightly.

“Nice room, great staff”

The room was very clean and extraordinarily comfortable. Staff was very helpful and delivered professional, efficient service with a genuine caring for my experience. Next time I am in the area, the Marriott Monterey will be my choice.

“Fine hotel - great location.”

Overall very good. Only issue was slow valet service; two guys chatting when parking direction and sevice was needed and this seemed to be the usual.
