Excellent Location

Posted 17-Nov-2014
Pros: The fireplace in the room and the balcony were great additions. The front desk staff was absolutely terrific and very accommodating.
Cons: The couch in the room had seen better days, but the rest of the furniture (including the bed) were in good shape.
We stayed at the Hotel Pacific for the Big Sur Half marathon this past weekend. The hotel was perfectly situated w/ large spacious (although slightly dated) rooms. Our room faced Pacific street, which meant a fair amount of noise during the night. Ear plugs did the trick. The hotel was also nice enough to start the breakfast at 4:30am for those of us runners who were anxious to get an early start before the race.

We have stayed in two other hotels in Monterey that take dogs and the places were not as nice as the Hotel Pacific, plus this hotel is close to the wharf and a lot of walking trails.

Close to Downtown Monterey

Posted 12-Nov-2014
Pros: It's comfort
Cons: I don't think the residents should have to pay for parking. Rooms that are set up for two or more people should have two (2) sinks in the bathroom.
Location: Location is terrific.
We've stayed at the Hotel Pacific several times over the years and each time was very pleasent.

More than met our expectations

Posted 23-Oct-2014
Pros: Fireplace, french doors and balcony , separate shower and tub in bathroom, very comfortable bed, large room with seating area in front of fireplace
Cons: Having two sinks in bathroom would be nice.
Location: Old Town, Fisherman's Wharf, Aquarium
My sister and I were looking for a quiet retreat to begin the healing process after the death of her husband. The Hotel Pacific more than met out expectations. We were given a beautiful upgraded room with amazing views. It was quiet and comfortable, just what we needed. We took our breakfast up to our room and enjoyed it on the balcony. The staff was very helpful when I discovered I had left a bag with shoes in the room. The young man who took my phone call followed up with housekeeping, let me know they had found the bag right away and arranged to get it back to me. I would definitely stay here again.

nice place

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: Location, size of room,
Cons: Breakfast, more handicapped parking, not charge $20.00 a day to park. Should advertise on line about the family suite. Couch should be a hide-a-bed
Location: A few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, an easy walk, Aquarium an easy walk or drive, 17 Mile Drive the OCEAN!!!
was greeted by a pleasant young man, lobby was clean, check in was quick and easy. Room was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable and clean, bathroom clean, great having two showers, one a tub/shower, nice patio would have been nice to have NOT been able to have seen the recycle bins that were 2 feet from the top of our patio wall a hedge of plants or a small wall would be nicer than recycle bins. At least the staff that put things in the recycle respected us enough to NOT do that when we were out there they waited until we went in, one gentle person saw us and smiled and turned to leave with all the recycle stuff and we told them to come back and just put it in there they have a job to do and we insisted they go ahead. Very polite cleaning staff. Parking for handicap could be better need more that is closer to the left side of the lobby much to far to have to park on the right side and then have to haul the everything and the person over. For the price paid the breakfast should have been better, the brand of coffee needs to be changed. The staff preparing it was excellent, they prepared it in a very professional manner, it looked wonderful. The management needs to change to better food, waffles would be nice. Management needs to allow for those coming in a half hour before it is over and be sure there is still food left. The staff was kind and made sure that those coming in late had what they needed. Management needs to step up and do their part on this.

Ok if you aren't too fussy

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: The size of the room was nice and the view from the 4th floor room helped make up for the need of repair on the outside.
Cons: Cleaning and repair of elevators and walkways. Coffee stirrers in the room.
Location: Location was good. Close to Alvarado street with lots of shops and places to eat and close to Cannery Row and the Aquarium.
The location is great and the hotel looks nice from the outside but the much of the place needs refurbishing, as others have stated. The rooms were not as some were pictured on the website but they were large and the remodeled bathrooms were nice but the carpet and the couch seemed like they were in need of cleaning. The rest of the room seemed clean though. Our first room had NO VIEW even though we requested one - just a wall in front of the balcony so we moved to a view room on the 2nd day. The exterior areas such as the walkways and elevators were in dire need of repairs. Compared to the price of many of the other hotels, it wasn't a bad deal but it wasn't a place we would go back to.

Place needs refurbishing. Chairs and couch saggy and uncomfortable. Bed ok. Our room on main street with loud traffic until about midnight, starting again about 5. Wood floors nice looking, but very loud if you have someone above you (and they arrive at 10:30 with roller suitcases and hard soled shoes. Was a nice walk to the wharf and front staff helpful
