“Pretty Impressed!”
When I was looking for a quick night in Monterey for business, I came across this gem. Very nice rooms, fireplace with large 42" LCD. Clean, tidy all as it should be. The pool and jacuzzi were heated, but older. All in all a nice place!
“Great little place.”
I spent nine days at Hotel Abrego while researching real estate in the Monterey area. I was very pleasantly surprised by accomodations in this price range. I've paid significantly more for less. It was clean, updated, well maintained, and nice. Not one complaint. Staff was friendly and downright nice. Free parking. Free internet access. It's a 4 block walk to historic downtown. Many restaurants in the area.
“Modern hotel”
This is a nice hotel close to shops and restaurants although about 45 minutes walk from canneryrow. The room was modern and clean with a fireplace which added an extra dimension. Good selection for the buffet breakfast and 2 for 1 drinks on arrival (although they tried to charge us full price but did rectify the mistake). There wasn't much character as we expected from the website but we had a pleasant stay.

It was great
“ForGetawayNiceHotelInMonterey”
We have stayed at a lot of hotels in the Monterey area with my husband. We have often been disappointed: expensive old rooms with old furniture, poor layout, and poor insulation - temperature and noise!!!- I could list a lot of names of these type of hotels and bed/breakfast inns... Abrego is offering a very nice stay. The rooms are small but new, clean and of sleek style. The layout of the rooms has been well thought of: when you come in there is coathanger place facing a sink made private by small wall, besides the tub/restroom/sink bathroom; on one wall of the bedroom, a nice desk with access to high-speed internet for doing some computer stuff; a small corner table with armchair with fireplace and nice TV screen after the sliding door leading to a small balcony with chairs, and then along the third wall, a small cabinet that harbor a fridge, a coffee maker on top and a set of drawers for your clothes. The linen were of good quality and taste! The location is perfect: down the street, easy access to the coastal trail leading to the cannery and the aquarium; great alternatives for breakfast with the paris French Bakery in walking distance, and great location for some fun with the Osio movie theater, restaurants and nice boutiques a few blocks away in downtown or some more shopping, more movies at Del Monte Shopping Center up the street... We stayed at the Hilton Garden a few times but location was not as convenient as Abrego; we have decided to stay at Abrego from now on..,
“Lovely”
Besides not being able to check in until 4pm the hotel was better than expected!!
“Comfort & Ease all near Cannery Row”
Never been to Monterey but wanted something comfortable near Cannery Row and the Aquarium. Was super easy to find and get to, plenty of free parking, staff was nice and helpful. Pros: Close to Fisherman's Wharf, San Carlos Beach, Cannery Row, Denny's, Paris Bakery, Trader Joe's and Coastal Trail for jogging/walking. Fireplace in some rooms, free wi-fi, refrigerator and robes. Quiet once the daytime traffic died down. You can also purchase 2 day passes to the aquarium from the front desk. Cons: Bathroom was great, just needed slightly brighter lighting and a little less ringing noise from the lighting in there. The comforter was horrible--bed was super comfy but the comforter was so heavy and hard it was like wearing one of those anti-radiation aprons at the dentist. Don't have room service but you can order off their lounge menu and then just pick up your food to take back up to your room. Menu was decent, wine I had was superb, short-ribs were so so and my vegetables were cold but a few minor tweeks and that could have been prevented.
“Nice stay in Monterey”
Everything was good, but there was some street noise at different parts of the day. Would stay there again, good for price. Wild Plum cafe around the block was awesome, great homemade food!
“Couldn't have been happier!”
Hotel Abrego was a fantastic stay. So close to downtown Monterey, we ended up walking farther from where we parked our car than we did back to the hotel. The room was super clean and very modern. The gas fireplace added a nice touch and kept us extra warm in the extra comfy beds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to Hotel Abrego on our next trip to Monterey!
