Old school Carmel property prepping for a remodel
This is a typical Carmel old-school motel. Smaller rooms, small restroom, funky stairs and hallways. The front desk service was excellent and employees are eager to please. But the property has seen better days--the drained and deserted swimming pool is a particularly poignant site--and a remodel/rehab is scheduled to begin in August, with a restaurant moving into the corner space on the property. It'll be interesting to see the final result..

Teeny tiny room; a coffee maker and refrigerator would be a great improvement. The office person was very helpful and pleasant.

There was no coffee maker in the room, no mini refrigerator or microwave. We did the like the soap and shampoo dispensers. Light in room was very poor to read by at night.

Very quaint. Bed comfortable, loved the strong water flow in the shower. TV needs to be upgraded!!!! I was surprised to see how small! But overall, enjoyed our stay!

Leaking water in the toilet, noise from A/C'sw from other sources travels thruout the motel. Advertise continental breakfast but nothing was available except coffee, hot water for tea, and fruit. The only part was a great location was a plus. Needs some upgrading. Watch your bill. Charges vary for days of use.

The Room was okay, however the carpet smelled like pet urine. I wasn’t aware it was a pet friendly room/hotel. Probably should have mentioned that, will not be back.

Cozy and walkable to shops and restaurants
Great location and easy parking. Steps away from the main street and a 10 min walk to the beach. Room was super clean and all the usual toiletries were available. I will definitely stay there again.

No , i didn’t complain in person. I wanted this to be a peaceful stay with my mom. So decided to let it go and Just write a review after. This was suppose to be a wellness retreat for my mom and I. But I am appalled by our stay in this hotel. Stayed in Room 12 on June 17th. **As soon as you enter, their is a HUGE Urine stain on the carpet. Dog or human... I don’t care. The point is the entire room reeked with Urine the entire night! What a way to welcome your guest.

My wife and I were there for our 28th wedding anniversary. We travel with two large dogs. They were super pet friendly. The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful during our entire stay.

Loved the Staff...Very friendly and helpful. Always cheerful! Loved the location .for small resturants and shopping. Price was very affordable. and the price. Hogs Breath Restaurant is accross the street,very nice! Some updating on the property would be nice.

The room came with a Dutch door. We enjoyed thinking that Mr. Ed might have stayed here once. The room was clean. Although larger than other rooms with one bed it was smallish. At least could still move around easily. I've stayed in places in Florence and Manhattan where one's suitcase needs must block the front door. Not that cramped! Sadly, they are not even able to provide breakfast to-go bags of croissant and butter. There is a breakfast place a half block away and Carmel Bakery is only a couple blocks away. There is a lone fire pit. The propane tank was empty and I'm told no extra tanks are kept on site. Any tank offsite would not be available for a day or two. I thought that strange, but I wasn't really there for the firepit anyway. Casanova restaurant is across the street and a fine place for lunch or supper. Reserve early. The people at the front desk were friendly and generally cheerful. It appears that dogs are permitted in some rooms. A room or two come with a small outdoor balcony. Water pressure in the shower was good. The coffee was good, but they should spring for the ultra-pasteurized real half-n-half not the powdered "coffee whitener". I hope to visit again when fully operational. July 1, 2021 they commence a remodeling. Cheers!

This place was so gross and outdated. It didn’t look like the photos at all. Over $200 for one night and it was the worst place I’ve ever stayed in. Staff is nice, but other than that STAY ELSEWHERE. I didn’t even want my bare feet on the carpet because that’s how gross it was..

Restful , quiet weekend
The room was spacious and quiet. We were very comfortable in our king size bed ! ( we have a queen at home so it’s always a treat !) dog friendly, close to all the shops and restaurants. Having the microwave and fridge allowed us to economize on breakfast and save our $ for all the lovely seafood, oysters and wine . There was no obvious recycling. Desk friendliness was 50/50. Less welcoming when arriving than departing. Would rebook here again . Hopefully their breakfast will resume post Covid !

Cute but dated
Cute and convenient but very dated rooms. Everything was clean, but could use a bit of updating. Only major issue was lack of outlets (only one in bedroom and one in bathroom which is used for coffee maker and microwave). Parking was also a challenge and we got lucky to have a spot in the lot when we arrived at night. The staff were friendly but would love to see a take-away breakfast or any option since most B&Bs have adjusted to COVID at this point.

The Carmel Lodge was walking distance for everything in the city (beach, hikes, Mission, downtown). Bring an extension cord, there is not a lot of plugs in the room.
