“Location is so-so, but immaculately clean, well furnished”

Very clean, very well furnished (nice lcd tv is a plus). Beds were very nice and spotlessly laundered. Shower was great with lots of water pressure, and everything about the hotel met my expectations for a high-quality overnight stay. It's not a resort, but enters my short list of reliable, high-quality, "go-to" accommodations.

Area recommendations

Cannery Row is reliably good entertainment, and the Aquarium is always fun - we go there at least once every couple of years. Take a drive up to Carmel and enjoy sunset on the cliffs over the ocean.

“good for one night”

this hotel was very very clean and nicely renovated, except for there was no air conditioning, which it happened to be 85 outside and about 90 inside our room. my only other complaint were the sheets. they were like construction paper, they made noise everytime my husband would move, and the pillows were very hard. but we were looking for a reasonable priced hotel in monterey, and this was it, but it had its cons! but overall it was extremely clean, which was a huge plus!!! i might stay here again in winter and bring my own pillow! :)

“Extremely impressed.”

This hotel far exceed my expectations. The room was very large with large windows, a desk, sofa, coffee table, comfortable office chair and easy chair. The bed (king size) was extremely comfortable. The room was extremely clean. The morning complimentary continental breakfast was very good, with bagels , toast, english muffins , cereals, apples, oranges, fruit juices and coffee. Trays were provided to take your breakfast to your room. The only negative I had was that the hotel wasn't downtown, but it only took about ten to fifteen minutes by car. The hotel was very easy to find , especially if you have a GPS. There was a Denny's restaurant right next door if you wanted a larger breakfast. There was also a Japanese and a Chinese restaurant about three blocks down the street. We would definitly stay at this hotel again if we are ever in the Monterey area and will highly recommend it to our friends.

“Good value hotel”

If you are travelling by car, this is convenient for Monterey and area. It is definitely one of the better Best Western hotels I have stayed in - it wasa nice touch to have coffee, tea and fruit constantly available in the lobby. Surprisingly quiet location. We ate at the Cookhouse restaurant next door and had a very good meal. There is a Denny's on the other side.

Area recommendations

17 mile drive is worth doing. The Aquarium was good, but very crowded when we visited. We went kayaking in the bay - a great way to see the sea otters!

“Space to eat breakfast , please.”

Very happy with this motel except for lack of space for people to serve themselves breakfast and to actually eat it! We were downstairs and able to juggle the food back to our room. Everything else about the motel was top class.

“Great choice for Monterey Bay visit”

Nothing extravagant. Just the good quality service I have experienced with BestWestern so far. I do recommend this hotel.

Dining

The Fish Hopper is excellent. The view and the food is superb. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Family-friendly activities

Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must see place. You and your family will enjoy the time spent there.

Outdoors or beach

If you have small kids (say 5 through 12), you will like to go to the Dennis the Menace park. It has this real locomotive that kids love to climb and explore. Also, there is an adjacent lake with pedal boats, which our kids (10 and 8) loved it.

“Very nice hotel”

We were driving along highway 101 and stopped in Monterey for one night. The hotel was great: close to the highway - so that it was easy to find, clean and comfortable room, nice view from the window. There is nothing interesting around the hotel within walking distance, but if you are driving, all Monterey attractions are within 5-10 min.

“Good location”

Nice clean hotel, very friendly staff and our room was really large, it had a full bath/shower/toilet & sink then outside had another seperate vanity area with a sink/mirror which was great. The staff were very friendly and overall it was a great experience. I would most definitely go back.

Take the 17 mile drive for the beautiful coastal scenery and Canery Row for all the restaurants and shops

“Very nice accomodations”

Surprised that the room did not have air conditioning, but a nice Hunter fan. Organic coffee served and environmentally friendly toiletries and paper products in the room. Great beds and linen. Very friendly staff. A little farther from Cannery Row and Aquarium that I would have liked, but nonetheless a terrific hotel at a great price!

Area recommendations

Very touristy area these days. The aquarium is a must see. Cannery Row restaurants are over-priced.
