Loved it!

Pros: How clean it was and the bed was soooooooooooooooooo comfortable!
Cons: Nothing, great hotel at a great price.
Location: Monterey Aquarim and Pebble Beach. The hotel was right in the middle and it worked great.
This hotel is at a great price in a great place where everything is much more expensive than I am use to. Sooo, I was very happy to find this place. The room was 80% updated and incredibly clean. The owners obviously take great pride in their hotel. It is 10 minutes to downtown and 10 minutes to Pebble Beach. If I am back in Monterey this is the only place I would stay!

Pros: Location
Cons: Repaint room, fix bedding so no rips or tears are visible, redo bathroom painting.
Location: Location right off freeway. Close to shopping, Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row.
Stayed one night Monday, 4/6/15. Entered room to see unpainted streaks in ceiling. Ripped/Torn skirt on bed. Mold, cracked paint in shower ceiling. T.V. channels did not work. Had to call front desk on how to turn T.V. on and operate remote for channel selection. The owner arrived to show how to operate the remote and advised the other remote (in a drawer) could also be used. The next morning had to wake up not to an alarm clock but the waste disposal truck emptying the trash bins on the lower level.

Good hotel... but

Pros: Close to beaches, parks, and Wharf/Cannery Row.
Cons: The wi-fi coverage was non-existent unless you wanted to spend your time hanging around the restaurant area.
It's a nice place to stay if you don't care about advertised Wi-Fi coverage. It never worked for us during our 3 night stay. I liked the room okay since it was such a short drive from everything, I just wish the wi-fi was as advertised.

Good value for the money

We had 3 x nights there for Spring Break and had a good time. The room was comfortable clean and very handy for Carmel and Monterey. Even though it's very close to Rte 1 the rooms were quiet. The Crazy Horse restaurant next door was good for breakfast, great omlettes, fast service. I'll stay there again next time I'm in that area.

No drinking water, why?

Cons: Drinking water
Everything else is good expect they don't have very basic human necessity - no drinking water. There is a ice machine but no water. Can't they just install a water fountain in whole hotel? When I asked at reception, depending on receptionist response varies from "I think we have drinking water supply to our rooms, so you can use what is in the bathroom" to "we don't have water, you can take it at Gas station next to hotel"

Outdated Room/Shabby Curtains

Pros: The hotel staff were very polite and courteous and gave very good directions. Gave helpful information when asked to do so.
Cons: Just update the rooms and clean them better as suggested above. Thank you.
The size of the room/bath was good. The hand held shower was excellent. The shabby curtains needed to be replaced/washed/pressed. The baseboards definitely needed to be replaced. They looked terrible/splashed with paint. The carpet needed a really good vacuuming. There were leftover "toenail clippings" on the carpet. The bathroom floor needed better cleaning in the corners of the floor. Other than that, it appeared clean. I liked the big size of the room and the furniture in it and its placement. The small sofa was convenient.

Pros: The check in was very smooth. The clerk was very friendly, helpful and polite. The restaurant and bar staff were also very nice. The room was clean.
Cons: Cleaning the outside hallways a bit better. It is a strange indoor/outdoor situation so I understand they get dirty, but they could be a bit cleaner.
Location: We went to the aquarium, Carmel Beach, 17 mile drive, Capitola and Santa Cruz
I booked this hotel using the Expedia Hidden Rates feature. After reading the reviews I was somewhat dubious. Some loved the place, some hated it. The first room we went to had a King bed and pull out sofa. This was fine except all of the springs at the foot of the pull out were broken. This would not support two people. The desk clerk was very understanding and he quickly moved us to a room with 2 Queen beds. The room was clean and seems to have had some upgrades. The hotel is right off of Hwy 1 but we didn't find there to be much road noise. We did not hear any noise from any neighboring rooms or any noised from the hallway. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is older and it shows. I found the rooms were much better from the inside then the outside and as long as the staff is nice and the rooms are clean and maintained it is fine for us. The hotel bar had an 80's vibe, but we weren't there to hang out at a hotel bar so it didnt' matter. It was nice to go down and have a beer after a long drive and the kids enjoyed watching karoake in the bar on Friday night. The restaurant staff were all very nice as well.

Bay Park Hotel - needs renovation

Location: Monterey and Pacific Grove is always wonderful. But usually I don't go if there are several big events going on.
We usually stay in Pacific Grove but everything was booked. We booked 2 rooms. They have pet rooms so that came in handy for my daughter's old doggie. This poor hotel is in great need of renovation. It looks like they are trying to but piecemeal. The walls looked freshly painted and nice deco on wall behind beds. The bathrooms were fine. The curtains were fine. The room was quiet. The carpets were horrible though, dirty and worn. The light fixture on the ceiling was hanging by one screw. The bedspread was white and clean and looked pretty but the fabric underneath was literally shattering from age. The TVs are new but no DVD players. There were lots of old chairs stacked down the hall of my daughter's room. Her room had the same old carpets, dirty and worn. I am sure once the complete the renovation it will be nice, but it looks like it is going to take a long time at the rate they are moving. I am sure once they

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The first night was $90 that I paid through Expedia. The 2nd and 3rd nights, I paid at the front desk for $76/night. So it was good to check at the front desk for walk in discounts. There was a police car parked in the parking lot in the evening for some security reasons. But it was a safe area and I had 3 quiet evenings.
