“Beautiful Resort with Some Minor Let Downs”
We recently stayed in the Villas at the Half Moon Resort. This was my first trip to Jamaica and I don't think I could have asked for a better introduction. The Montego Bay airport was very nice (no unsavory characters), and the resort was very close by (10 minute cab drive). The resort is gorgeous and laid out very well. In the villas you get golf carts to drive around in, since the grounds are so large. It was very peaceful, secure, and beautifully landscaped. The only negatives I would note is that we did not have hot water most of the time we were there (3 days). I called the front desk twice, and told our house staff at least 3 times, and we were always told that maintenance was working on it. They did not offer to switch our rooms, so two days I could not shower. The staff is very attentive, however I would not say they are overly friendly. You can expect great service, but not with a smile. Other than that our stay was good. We ate at the pub and the bar instead of spending $25 per person on their lunch and dinner buffets. Oh, and you can eat at the outdoor bar - they won't tell you that (when I asked the bartender where we could grab a quick lunch he directed us to the $25 buffet but when we came back later a family was sitting at the bar eating burgers and pizza.) The food at the pub and bar were pretty good. We only ate in the main restaurant once - for breakfast - which was reasonably priced and pretty good. You can buy bottles of wine at the commissary as well.
“Awesome experience”
We loved the Half Moon. The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive. The food was fabulous and the Hibiscus Suites were beautiful, clean and perfectly laid out for our family of five. We want to go back. This was our favorite new vacation spot!
“Defines guest service and comfort”
Half Moon is is unparalleled in making its guests feel comfortable and welcome. Everyone who works there (and there are a lot) - bellhops, housecleaning, waiters, front desk, managers - go out of their way to make sure you feel appreciated. There is a wonderfully warm family feeling at this resort, which is why I keep returning. All the facilities are excellent, as well.
“our new second home”
half moon was perfect
“Jamaica's Best!”
This hotel is beautiful. My husband and I were attending a family member's wedding being held at the hotel. The wedding was just exquisite. It was like being in a fairy tale setting. Walking the beach in the early morning was simply the best. Every one of the hotel/spa staff was professional, friendly, extremely courteous, attentive and very respectful. I would go back in a minute!
“The Best Hotel in Montego Bay”
Service was impeccable during our stay. Check-in took a bit longer than we expected, but we were given a free upgrade to a Hibiscus suite as a result. Room service came by twice daily, leaving new towels for the pools (51!). We rented and rode our bicycles on the property at night with no worries. There are several security guards on site. Vegetarian cuisine is lacking, but Akbar/Thai Gardens made up for that. Ernest and Clarence made our stay memorable. Winston was our driver of choice for excursions. Half Moon has hosted Prince Charles and other notable luminaries, and we can see why. We'd definitely return.
“A Premier Resort”
This was one of the better experiences we've had bar none. The staff is polite and attentive. The accomodations are exemplary, and the grounds are magnificent. On the down side, was the pricing of food and drinks. We paid $22 on average for two drinks.... this is exhorbitant, and you are sort of captive to it since travelling outside the resort requires assistence to insure your safety (at night).
“Outstanding”
This hotel was beautiful and the service was excellent. I had some business to transact, and the staff went out of their way to assist. The ocean view suite was the best.
“I wanted to stay!”
This was the first time my sister and I traveled to Jamaica and we had the best time of our lives. EVERYONE was so nice and friendly. We heard that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and a host of other royals and celebrities stay there, but they treat everyone like royalty. We truly felt like two Queens. I didn't want to leave, but I definitely will return. Take lots of cash because they love to receive tips, but they deserve it! The staff at Half Moon is the best!! The resort is beautiful!! The entertainment was great!! Half Moon is my home away from home. I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Thank you Half Moon for making our trip so momentus. We can't stop talking about it. meals. I highly recommend Half Moon! Enjoy your trip! Yeah Mon!
