“Ready to go back!”
This was a nice resort for the money. The resort was well taken care of, and the staff was very helpful. We would definately stay at a Breezes resort again.
“Trelawny Dec 2011”
Just returned from our 6th visit to this resort already planning next trip. It's obvious changes are being made to both facilities and staff- for the better. Security has been increased, however I've never felt unsafe at this resort. We were in a group of 18 ranging in age from 20-78. Everyone found plenty to do with no complaints. The staff and locals were espically acomodating to my generic mother and step father making sure they could actively participate in sailboating, snorkling and off site tours. If you are looking for a 5 star this won't be for you. If you can be a little flexible and realize your spending half as much as other Jamacian all inclusives you'll have a great time.
“more than expected;”
Room smallish, clean, nice little balcony w/great view. Food v.good, varied, w mix of local Jamaican & american- fresh veggies, fruits, meats, and plenty of fries & desserts. Jerk Chix at the pool is awesome. Good service. Make reserv at Casablanca or Japanese restaurants right away. All you can drink, all day, really. Entertainment staff is great; join in the fun &make new friends. Great activities for kids & adults. In a less developed area of Jamaica, so neighborhood w/typical local housing, goats munching in front yards, little vendor shacks down the beach. I did not feel like I was in a tourist trap, &you get close to Jamaican culture while enjoying a family friendly resort w/lots of security. Karaoke in both english & Patwa was fun! Great music, bands, dancers - different every evening. Only complaint was rather loud music from disco every night, but we slept w/doors open for ocean breeze effect. Saw several weddings in gazebo on beach. Yoga & Pilates classes were great. All of this is included, as well as transport to and from airport. You can travel around but Cab drivers at the lobby are way overpriced. Go down to the street & negotiate a lower price. The beach is nice, not huge, w/nice sand & gradual sloped swim area. Little kids have room to make castles, & you can enjoy music from the pool area or sit further away for quiet. Hallway carpet worn in spots, but it's outside & not important. Ya mon, this is a good place to slow down & relax.
“Not impressed.”
This is the second time we have vacationed at the Starfish Trelawney and I wad very disappointed. We were there 6 years ago when it was the Starfish and it was a great vacation. The hotel has since went down. It needs a lot of repair and upgrade. Some of the workers were great and some were very rude and didn't seem to care about how they treated their guests. I will not be going back to this hotel. We love Jamaica and will be going back but not to the Breezes Starfish Trelawney.
“Average”
Restaurants requiring reservations were delicious, but not open every night (and you need to make reservations way in advance). Buffet food was mediocre and alcoholic drinks were delicious. I had e-mailed the resort before our trip asking for information on tours, but never received a response. Not much to do right outside of resort - would need to travel about 20 minutes for sites/attractions. Didn't find the tour desk or guest relations at resort overly informative, which made decisions more difficult. Very disappointed with Dunns River Falls because many locals were pestering the tourists. Visited Mystic Mountain - this attraction was FANTASTIC and alot of fun. Even though gratuities are included, the bus drivers and bag handlers (both on the provided transportation to/from the airport as well as tours) expect and ask for tips. Swim-up bar was not open during our stay, which was a little disappointing. Overall, trip was relaxing and resort was enjoyable; however, I would prefer to visit Jamaica during a cruise rather than stay on the island again.
“Ya mon, great beach, circus activity, pool, kiddy slide & family fun”
Nice place to kick back. We enjoyed the Jamican people and activities. I would suggest staying in the cottages rather than tower rooms. If you like to go to bed early you won't be able to sleep since band and outside noise permeates the tower rooms. The cottages have a much better layout and seem newer than regular rooms too. Worth the extra $. Drinks were great. Suggest you bring your own large cup for use while there. Food was good too. Really enjoyed the two specialty restaurants so be sure to reserve time there.
“you get what you pay for”
Overall, we had a fun time. Our first impression of our room was "yuck". But after a few drinks, it wasn't so bad, just wasn't what we were expecting. It was fairly clean but were spider webs in the corners, our toilet didn't flush and the bathroom door was rotting. The staff was only friendly if you made an effort to be very friendly with them. The food was great! The Japanese rest. was delicious and the Italian was great too. The buffet had lots of fresh foods and we were never disappointed there. The bars made some awesome drinks, just take along your own cooler cup because they serve you in 6 oz. cups. They are empty til you walk back to your lounge chair!
“"Worst visit yet"”
My husband and I have traveled to the carribbean many times. We had staid at this resort 5 years ago without incident. This is not the case for this visit. Day 1 we requested extra pillos and a blanket. Neither of whice ever cam. Day 2 we rec our extra (1) pillow and again requested the blanket. (we never got the blanket or an appology). Day 3 the maid services is cleaning and states your toilet is leaking "i notified mainenance" The maintenance man came 1/2 later walked in the Bathroom and said I'll be back soon.1 hr later he returns is in there a while then states he is done. All they did was sicilone the toiled that left a horrible smell. We left the room door open for 4 hours before calling mainenance to request an exaust fan at least. or a new room. Maintenance never returned that day of or call. So myself and my asthmatic daught slept with the door open to cottage. I was nauseuos and headache the duration of that day. The next day we call maintenance because the toilet overflowed all on to the floor. Upon response they did plung it but than proceeded to wipe up the overflowed toild water (feces and all) whith all of our towels. He left the towles on the floor and did not leave any towels to replace those. We called for more towels but no one ever came again. the pools were very dirty, they playground area was moslty blosed i guess to the rusty sharp edges. our last night there we were sitting on the terrace of our and watched a rat climb up our tree.
“Worst experience ever”
I can't say enough bad about this place. PLEASE don't ever go there. It is dirty, it has bugs, nothing works there, the food and service is terrible. Food and drinks constantly run out and are not refilled for long periods of time. Staff is RUDE and uncaring. Locals harass you on private to beach to go off property to their shops (huts) ENDLESSLY! A fist fight errupted right between them right in front of us on Breezes property. More than half of advertised ammenities and activities not available or only offered once a week or so. This was truly the WORST vacation I have ever had and it was my honeymoon to boot. I have sent pictures to SuperClubs who own Breezes and am hoping for some kind of resolution. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!!
“"Consider Carefully"”
The hotel staff was excellent and most professional! they all deserve a raise!! *The hotel had its own "transportation waiting area" at the airport. *The shuttle ride was less than 30 minutes from the airport. *Food was plentiful and very well prepared. *Loved the 24 hour beach secuity. *Water activities, daytime activities, night activities were great. *Do not miss having a Spa treatment...staff is tops! *The insects (ants and other tiny flying gnats) at night were awful. Don't sleep uncovered. I am still recovering from bites. Would I go there again? Yes, only after the hotel has completed a serious renovation. If you are looking for a place where the staff really pampers you, then by all means come here!!!
