Mon Choisy beach resort

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Nice location; busstops near and several nice eateries, bar, restaurants in walking distance at Trou aux Biches. very obliging and helpful staff; gave a lot of local information and although we did not book a late checkout let us have a room to get organised before departure. Rooms clean and spacious, not all balconies have beaut view but premises nice. Beach of mon choisy is in walking distance; trees give shade but trou aux biches beach a bit farther but much better. Port Louis and Grand Baie can be easily reached by public transport during the day; taxis necessary at night but can be found quickly.

Nice modern apartment hotel.

Posted 12-Jun-2014
Pros: Swimming pool and the massive bed!
Cons: Staff attitude, can't quite explain it but a bit hit and miss depending on the day and who I spoke to.Made you feel as though you were bothering them
Location: Close to beach. Not many shops but this is why I chose the location for its tranquility.
Lovely modern apartments, perfect for self catering and privacy. Stunning sea view from poolside. Perfect if you like to lounge around in the sun like me :-) Not much to do if your looking for activities or night life which suited me fine as I needed to chill and recharge my batteries so perfect. But can easily get a bus/taxi into the more tourist areas.

Great view, close to public beach and bus station. We stayed four nights and felt comfortable during the stay. Sunset view was gorgeous.

Beach just around the corner

Posted 15-May-2014
Pros: The hotel was attractively designed, well maintained and nicely landscaped. The beach was right on the doorsteps of the hotel.
Cons: Some form of mosquito barrier outside the bathroom windows would have been very helpful. When the lights were on, we had to close the bathroom window
Location: Very quiet location, with few shops and restaurants. It is a good location if you love a beach holiday.
Mon Choisy beach, in our opinion, was the most attractive beach in that part of Mauritius. It was a picture postcard type of tropical beach, white sands surrounded by trees. This is the west side of Mauritius, and has beautiful sunsets which people liked to watch while sitting in front of the hotel. Buses ran frequently pass the hotel, but the last one is usually at sunset, near 6 o'clock. So we saw quite a few sunsets after trying to catch the last bus.

Great little place to stay

Posted 28-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
5 mins walk from one of Mauritius' best beaches Trou aux Biches, and a minutes stroll from the sweeping sands of Mont Choisy beach, this hotel has a perfect location. Public bus to Grand Bay a couple of mins walk away. Staff can't help you enough. Our room had its own wifi which was handy. The maids were delightful and really kept our room spotlessly clean. Modern feel to the room with a queen-sized bed and spacious walk in shower. Plasma tv had only one channel in English, BBC but who wants to stay in and watch tv when you are on holiday? Decent sized pool with plenty of sunbeds and a lovely view of the ocean. I can't recommend this place enough and will be back soon hopefully!

Nice small hotel at a fairly good location

Posted 27-Jan-2014
Pros: Cleanness, staff friendliness.
Cons: Hotel could have a small shop in it, just for some drinks and snack would be enough (flashlights, batteries, etc.)
Location: Right next to Mont Choisy Beach. Couple of km's to nearest villages, so scooter was useful ,though public transportation works quite well.
Over all very nice experience. Hotel is small, but quite new and clean. Pool is also small, but sizable enough for its use and Mon Choisy public beach is right next to the hotel (beach in front of the hotel is rocky and not good for swimming, people tended to fish there though). There is no restaurant in the hotel, but you can order food from couple of near by restaurants (also breakfast). Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Transportation to and from airport is cheaper if you ask the hotel to arrange it. Some streets don't have streetlights, so consider taking a flashlight with you.

Great Lodging in a Great Location

Posted 06-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
This is more of an Apartment than a Hotel, but a great property. We had a large room with a Kitchen, Balcony, AC and Wifi. There was ample parking and 24 hours security. The property is located Ocenafront on one of the most desirable beaches on Mauritius (Mon Choisy). It is 5 minutes from Grand Bay which is also one of the best locations on the island. The staff were always very cheeerful and friendly. There is a great pool and a private gate-door that accesses Mon Choisy beach directly. It is almost like having a private beach. This is more of a Lodge than a hotel as there is no restaurant or note-like services, but it is brilliant having your own kitchen and both shopping and restaurants are plentiful and close by. You can stay in and cook yourself or go out to eat as you like. The one negative is the limited selection of TV channels which are all in French. I didn't use the TV at all and I gebnerally like to wathc a little TV before bed and sometimes early in the AM. Even if it is CNN or BBC, it would be nice for them to have channels that reflected both English and French. This is a great choice of lodging in an ideal location on the island.
