“A bit of Italian a bit of French”

“perfectly adequate for our needs”

this hotel was clean,10 minute walk to bus and train stations.only slight complant the bar was closed,but there are plenty of bars in the immediate area.we would recommend the hotel ideal for short or long breaks.menton is a lovely place.

Must see
Take the no10 minibus to Saint Agnes,the ride is the best 1euro you will spend and the views over menton are breathtaking.

Safe hotel (with friendly staff) which is within walking distance to tourist attractions. Price of hotel rooms very reasonable compared to Monaco. Each hotel room has outdoor balcony/seating.

“Oasis of calm”

This hotel left a very good impression on two weary travellers. The room was very comfortable with a large king-size bed and a balcony with a fine palm-tree view. The British custom of a "teasmade" tray with kettle and tea-making facilities was also very welcome in this otherwise charmingly French hotel. The breakfast buffet was copious and the staff were most helpful. The only possible fault was the faded orange colour of the bathroom tiles. As Menton is famous for its "fête du citron" a lemon yellow colour would have been much brighter. But this is a very minor critique of an otherwise splendid hotel. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Area recommendations
The beach is glorious for swimming. The shops in the centre of town are full of gifts with provencal motifs. The covered market is worth a visit and soon to be opened is an exhibition dedicated to Jean Cocteau.

“5th visit to this hotel”

My wife and I have used this hotel for the last 4 years for our 2 week summer vacation In June and this year managed also a week in September. We have always found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful and the hotel is nicely located, 5 mins walk to the sea. As the hotel has a sun terrace we never bother sunbathing on the beach. It is close to the town centre and Menton has a good choice of restaurants and cafe's are plentiful. Handy for both buses and trains. Just waiting to confirm vacation dates for next year so we can book again.

Area recommendations
I always enjoy exploring the narrow little streets and alleyways in the old town as they are so full of character. Try and visit the cemetery at the very top of the town as the views are stunning.
When to go
Go early June before it gets too hot or September when it is getting cooler. Avoid July & August when it can be very hot and is the main period for European holidays.
Getting there
Fly to Nice airport and you can get a free bus from airport to Nice railway station and catch a direct train to Menton. There is also an express coach from airport to Menton via Nice & Monaco. Alternatively you can ask the hotel to arrange for a taxi to collect you from airport and return you at the end of your stay.
Getting around
Train service is very good and you can catch trains to Monaco, Nice, Cannes & Antibes. Local buses are also good and very cheap

“Good hotel, ideal location”

hotel was clean and friendly staff, just make sure you book your car in for parking, as none available when we got there. ideal situation, close to sea front, only 5 minute walk to bus stop for bus into Monaco at Euro1 looking at returning next year for a longer stay

“Another successful holiday”

This is the fourth time we have used this hotel - it is conveniently located in the heart of Menton, short walk to the beach although I prefer to use the sun teerace for sunbathing. Handy too for the local train station so you can get to Monaco and Nice easily and quickly. Staff are always helpful and friendly and free WiFi makes this very good value.

Area recommendations
The old town is the heart of Menton and has a wonderful atmosphere - exploring all the old street is well worth the effort
When to go
I have found early June to be the best time - it is not too busy and temperatures around mid 70's F.

“Still good but not perfect”

This is the second time that we have stayed at this hotel. The hotel had changed the classification of their rooms. We had therefore booked a room that was inferior to our preference. The hotel were able to change us to a room of the type we required but at a cost of an additional amount and although we were promised that the two single beds would be joined together, they never were. In the scheme of things the beds doesn't seem an issue but it was our first wedding anniversary!!! We were offered a free drink on check-in but we didn't cash this in so we still haven't done the bar. Again we didn't try the restaurant as there was no need as there are so many really good restaurants close by. We will still use this hotel in future because it is spotlessly clean and that is very important to me.

We have only ever stayed in this hotel and would recommend the area.
